**From my tradition and childhood there was actually in the evening mostly bread with sausage, cheese, vegetables and food like these. On some special days, especially in the cool autumn after gardening, collecting leaves, there was sometimes something very special, which I still love very much today - fried potatoes with Styrian bacon or sometimes ham cheese toast.**
Aus meiner Tradition und Kindheit her gab es eigentlich abends zumeist Brot mit Wurst, Käse, Gemüse in der Art. An manch besonderen Tagen, vor allem im kühlen Herbst nach der Gartenarbeit, dem Blätter sammeln, gab es manchmal etwas ganz besonderes, das ich auch heute noch sehr liebe – Bratkartoffeln mit steirischem Speck oder manchmal auch Schinken Käse Toast.

**When I was 13 years old, I had the opportunity to participate in a student exchange with France through my great school. So I was in Grenoble, France for 3 weeks with my exchange student (who came to us for 3 weeks afterwards) and ended up in a wonderful family with a total of 3 teenage children.
I think this family had a big impact on me as far as my dinner was concerned. Because in the evenings they would all get together. They had a huge table in the kitchen, sometimes they cooked fresh, often there was salad, of course there was always delicious baguette at the table, but the special thing was that they simply put everything they found out of the refrigerator, even leftovers from the day before, sometimes reheated sometimes cold, on the table. Gratin Dophinoise, casseroles, whatever was just there.
And that made for the best dinner ever, because first of all, everyone was together and secondly, you had a huge variety of different goodies right in front of you and you could just eat whatever you felt like.**

Mit 13 Jahren hatte ich dann durch meine tolle Schule die Möglichkeit an einem Schüleraustausch mit Frankreich teilzunehmen. So war ich für 3 Wochen in Grenoble, Frankreich, bei meiner Austauschschülerin (die danach für 3 Wochen zu uns kam) und landete dort in einer wundervollen Familie mit insgesamt 3 jugendlichen Kindern.
Ich denke, diese Familie hat mich sehr geprägt, was mein Abendessen angeht. Denn abends kamen sie alle zusammen. Sie hatten einen riesigen Tisch in der Küche, manchmal wurde frisch gekocht, oft gab es Salat, natürlich war immer leckerstes Baguette am Tisch, das besondere aber war, dass sie einfach alles, was sie im Kühschrank auch an Resten vom Vortag fanden, manches aufgewärmt und manches kalt, einfach auf den Tisch stellten. Gratin Dophinoise, Aufläufe, was auch immer gerade da war.
Und das ergab das beste Abendessen aller Zeiten, denn erstens waren alle gemeinsam und zweitens hattest du eine riesige Auswahl an verschiedensten Leckereien direkt vor deiner Nase und konntest einfach essen, wonach dir der Sinn stand.

**Unfortunately, there are no photos of the time in France, but I think this time has really shaped me lastingly, because my favorite dinner is in most cases exactly so that I see what is fresh there or what is just leftovers from the day or previous day.
Of course, when I eat alone, I don't put everything on the table, but I just see what's there and then choose. Like here in the photo above, there were two "eggplant cutlets" left over, some bread and spring onion, a tea to go with it and happy was your Beeber!**
Leider gibt es keine Fotos von er Zeit aus Frankreich, aber ich denke diese Zeit hat mich wirklich nachhaltig geprägt, denn mein Lieblings Abendessen ist in den meisten Fällen genau so, dass ich sehe was frisch da ist oder was eben noch an Resten vom Tag oder Vortag vorhanden ist.
Natürlich stelle ich mir, wenn ich alleine esse, nicht alles auf den Tisch, aber ich sehe einfach nach, was da ist und wähle dann aus. Wie hier auf dem Foto hier oberhalb, waren noch zwei "Auberginen Schnitzel" übrig, etwas Brot und Frühlingszwiebel, einen Tee dazu und glücklich war eure Beeber!

**In recent years another dish has crept in that I love to eat in the evening, and that are my salad bowls. Sauté various vegetables briefly and season, then pour over the freshly dressed salad and eat right away. Very tasty.**
In den letzten Jahren hat sich noch ein anderes Gericht eingeschlichen, dass ich abends sehr sehr gerne esse, das sind meine Salat Schüsseln. Diverses Gemüse kurz anbraten und würzen, danach über den frisch angemachten Salat geben und gleich essen. Sehr lecker.

**Mjam and very rarely but nevertheless there is then also a very special dinner: A Styrian sausage salad with Rapunzel, egg, onion and of course - Styrian pumpkin seed oil:**
Mjam und sehr selten aber doch gibt es dann auch mal sowas zum Abendessen so etwas: Ein steirischer Wurstsalat mit Rapunzel, Ei, Zwiebel und natürlich - Steirischem Kürbiskernöl:

**Today we had barbecue and a cucumber salad was left over. I mixed with the warmed lentil squash feta from yesterday. The lentils dissolve when reheated, but that doesn't affect the taste - et voila ;-) - ready is my perfect dinner. Bon Apetit!**
Heute hatten wir Mittags gegrillt, den Gurkensalat der übrig blieb habe ich mit dem angewärmten Linsen-Kürbis-Feta von gestern gemischt. Die Linsen lösen sich beim Aufwärmen zwar aus, aber das macht dem Geschmack nichts aus – et voila ;-) - fertig ist mein perfektes Abendessen. Bon Apetit!
