  ##### Prologue There's a prologue now! And it's really stellar. Animated, dark funny, compelling story. A little bit of stereotyping, sure, as there are the arrogant elves beating you with their many cards, but it's a really great start into the game. First, a 1 on 1 battle against a bear, then against those elves. The character descriptions are hilarious, especially the wagon master. I wish they were more of those. Unfortunately, the subtitles are missing - but I hope that's something that is going to be fixed soon. The voices are great though, and it's worth turning the sound on for this experience. Besides the prologue, there is one more chapter split in 4 - duels. Real duals, where you can choose your splinters and cards, all foundation. The first battle is really hard to lose, so we'll skip that. ##### Battle 2 - Maul Bloodgore This one is a fixed one, too, his strategy given away in the text. Which is great, because the new player can consciously build a team that opposes a strong tank protecting Opportunity and Sneak. There are many strategies against that. Luckily, you get to see the exact strategy - another good point to learn from the teams that the opponent has recently chosen. After a while of playing, it becomes easy to deduct the opponent's strategy by looking at their last played teams, as those many times rely on what the opponent has or rented. Not everyone has a complete set. That's the same team on all 6 last battles. If you studied the foundation cards, it shouldn't be too hard to beat that. Which is the next lesson from this - know all cards. Not just the ones you have, but study all cards available. There's much to learn from it. Have a good look, and see what strategy would work. Try it out. If you fail, try again - because that's how we all learn. ##### Battle 3 - GERTRUUUUUDEEEEE As a German, I do appreciate that name. This time, the hints are not as direct as with Maul. Just that a quite a bit of magic is involved. Okay, this one is actually really great. Hadn't expected that and won't spoil it, but it's a treat of humor! Also, a great lesson about the importance of a stat that is many times overlooked by new players, but does play a key role. I really laughed a lot with this challenge. ##### Battle 4 - Smug him up! Finally, the elf! A revenge for the first battle, when we only had one card - now, we can really proof what we learned. According to the text, at least. Magic as a main weapon, combined with sneak. Again, we can have a look up front on the team that is going to be played. There are two unknown cards to us. The Mystic Scaleweaver and the Saltwater mage. If the latter we know it's magic sneak. This one is actually quite hard to beat. Took me three times, but once I found the card that was key, it was kind of obvious. But we always know that in the retrospective. ##### Conclusion The prologue and the new chapter don't only add value to the learning experience, but highlight something that is very inherent to Splinterlands and most of its community - humor. Snarky, surprising, refreshing. Also thanks to that it's an excellent addition to the new player experience. Thank you very much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it at least as much as I enjoyed writing :-D If you have any comments or feedback - please let me know!
