What Hillary And Mike Have In Common
### A Humorous Look at Hillary and Mike

There is consensus among psychologists that the personality traits developed in early childhood will seldom change as adults. That means if you knew someone when they were young they will be much the same person when they are old. One expression that represents this idea is, a leopard can't change its spots.

So let's test this theory with two prominent political figures: Hillary Rohdam Clinton, and Mike Pence. And why these two? Well, because I was around them when they were young. Hillary was a high school classmate; and later, after I became a teacher, I had Mike Pence as a homeroom student.

### Lets start with Hillary

She was two years ahead of me at Maine South HS and didn't know I existed. In fact, I only discovered we were classmates after Bill became president; that's when I got out my yearbook and found all her pictures. It was strange to see her in settings that were so familiar to me. I had to wonder if we ever ate at the same lunch table, or if there was any possibility she thought I was cute.

### And so what do her pictures tell us?

* It is easy to conclude that she was a smarty pants, as most all of her pictures are for academics and student government. And unless you consider politics a game it looks like she never participated in any high school sports.

* She liked her hounds tooth skirt because she is wearing it in almost every picture; OK to be fair, they were probably all taken on photo day, when special groups, other than sports, were called out of their classes for pictures.

* She showed signs of being a flip-flopper. You will notice that in one photo her hair is parted on the opposite side. Was this her plan, was she pandering to the whims of her audience, or was this just sloppy darkroom technique, a negative reversed?

* She was on the Academic Quiz team. A hand selected group of students, need I say more.

* Her smile was always controlled, she seemed to project cool confidence, as if she was thinking, I got the honors and the rest of you didn’t.

* Her eyebrow were usually slightly raised. Body language experts will tell you, this might be an indicator of someone who is seeking attention.

### A new look for Hillary

* Hurrah, we see in this photo that she did have more than one set of cloths.

* She was also mixing things up by wearing her hair in a bun. Cosmopolitan Magazine says, bun girls enjoy male attention. Perhaps Hillary had her hair up on the day she met Bill.

### Showing Some Attitude

* Senior Leaders were helpers assigned to PE classes. In Illinois every student was required to take PE every semester. Most students saw the job of Senior Leader as a good way to get out of actual exercise.

* Wow, she has a different look for her PE picture. She looks angry. Maybe she had been scolded for not wearing her whistle like everyone else.
* I think this was her best look, a more casual photo with her hair hanging down over her eye. Could you say that perhaps she was trying to be sexy?

### On to Mike

He was one of my homeroom students at Columbus North HS. We didn’t do much interacting, homeroom was simply the place for announcements and electing school officers. Mike was always elected by my homeroom as their student council representative. Do you remember how that worked? The nomination process, where all the not so cool kids tried to be popular by nominating the cool kids; then with heads down and the raising of hands, the landslide popular vote. Later, Mike moved from homeroom representative to senior class officer. I don’t believe it was president, he was something like Sgt at Arms. Hmm, sounds familiar, first a representative, then into the role of a minor higher office.

### And so what do his pictures tell us?

* He is not pictured in any academic photos? I am sure he must have made respectable grades, but there is no yearbook evidence to prove it. It is like Trump and his taxes, without seeing his returns there is no proof he paid them.

* Mike liked to be in the center of things. Do you notice he is always holding a microphone? He was born to entertain.

*   Hmmm, those shorts.

* He was interviewing two guys dressed like girls; probably telling them which bathrooms they could and couldn't use.

* He was often holding a script, a cheat sheet to help him stay on message.

* No sports pictures for Mike, he did try out for wrestling once, but it didn't last. His competitive side manifested itself on the debate team. Maybe he is debating politics with his coach. I know for a fact that she was a Democrat, or maybe they are fighting over the trophy.
