I received this gift on Tuesday. It came with a story about how the preparation had some issues. So, as a good listener I was there enjoying all the process of my girlfriend making this little pie.

The story goes from the stop at the groceries to get the ingredients she didn't have at home. The messy details of trying to make the dough. The intricate woven pattern that looks beautiful. In her words, she tried so hard to tell me this wasn't her best pie. But I was caught in the beauty of the retelling of a story by her lips. What can I say? It was lovely.

Some funny accidents happened too. The forgot the raisins and to add some rum when cooling the filling. She found out that there was rum, but it was in a weird place.

The pie also came with instructions.

- Do not cut it.
- Lift it and eat.
- Use the napkins.
- Do not reheat it.

The most important one was to enjoy it. I shared some with my mom. She liked it. I found it really good. The dough was soft and crumbly. That's a nice remark for a pie. It was also an apple pie. And I think that it was the first time I had had any in my entire life. Apple aren't the usual filling for pies around here. That also makes it even more special.

So bypassing the issues with its preparation, this was a really good dessert. And I didn't miss one second to tell her how much I liked her cooking!

Of course, love is the secret ingredient. I mean look at this. There is happiness in each bite!
