Have u ever wished to have done something earlier? Have you ever missed an important event because you delayed planning for it? Have you ever promised to call someone later and intentionally delayed or skipped it? Have you procrastinated once, twice, has procrastinating become your habit? 

What is procrastination? The word procrastination has a latin origin that means 'BELONGING TO TOMORROW' It is act of willingly and unnecessarily failing to do something at the right time in spite of knowing   the outcome of postponing such. It can also be explained as intentionally putting off a task with the promise to do it later. To procrastinate is human. We procrastinate on different things. For example, we may have procrastinated visiting a sick friend or attending a meeting. We may also have procrastinated  applying for a job or going for an interview, we may also have procrastinated reading our book for examination. At one time or the order, each of us has been a victim of procrastination that cost us dearly. Presently, i am one. Yet, i planted my these maize, watch them as they grow, started noticing the onset of the attack, yet i kept on procrastinating spraying pesticides until it gets to this stage. Despite fully knowing the consequences it will have on them. Pesticides are available, every other materials needed for the application are there, yet, i  ignored the warning signs and kept on procrastination. Does it amount to hindering one's progress by oneself? Definitely it does. Procrastination is one of the major obstacles limiting us from making the right decision, reaching our goals and attaining to our dream position. Most times, all opportunities seems to be in out disposition, but at a twinkle of an eye we miss these precious opportunities by procrastinating. As time goes by, when we reflect on those past opportunities., feelings of regret emptiness and unfulfilled life tend to overwhelm us he fact remains that procrastination can cost-us dearly even our lives.  But  before discussing the effects of procrastination, let us first look into:

Why do people procrastinate? Some people say it is out of being lazy. But to be realistic, procrastinating a task makes one to work harder in order to meet deadlines.  So a lazy person can  not work harder. Others say they do better when under pressure.  But working under pressure gives no time to analyze and review the work in order ascertain  efficiency. The truth is that procrastination is not just delaying or postponing a task. It is psychological. Like feelings of inferiority complex, avoiding to show off and the rest are all related to procrastination.

Effect of  procrastination include; depression, bad reputation especially if other people are involved, failure to achieve goals, having low grade knowledge school, waste of time and opportunity that may never come back again, ruining your career, ruining relationships, risking physical and mental health, making poor decisions. 

How to overcome procrastination 
 
Setting realistic goals
Breaking down work loads
Being active
Stay motivated 
Being positive 
Create meaningful friend
Make out time for rest
Reevaluate yourself 
Assess your priorities 
So at all cost, let us braze up ourselves, have a self-talk,  be determined, resist every urge to procrastinate and see ourselves succeed. If we do so, the sky will be our starting point. Let us not allow our desires, goals, precious opportunities keep belonging to tomorrow until they vanish.
