So when I first heard about the token system that Steemit was taking on, I was pretty excited. I figured surely, this idea would spill over into all of the internet. Get paid to browse? Yes. Get paid to post? Of course! In ten years, looking back, people would laugh and laugh about how they gave over their information for free at one point, and weren't compensated for all the time they spent online. I guess I wasn't thinking too much about the specifics. That or, the rollout of different coins has just become an absolute mess. As much as I detest Google, and how much they own, and how much power they have, I must say it is convenient to have most things in the same place. I don't have to continually login and out of YouTube/Gmail/Google Search when I want to use one or the other. I have been an avid contributor to DTube for a long time, but have taken a break from everything to focus on my health. In that time, I was locked out of my DTube account, for not claiming it, and figured out that DTube and Steemit will be separate logins and entities in general from here on out. Dear God. I am exhausted already. I get the point of decentralization. If everything was all in one place, it would no longer have the benefits of being decentralized. That being said, it's 2019 people. The vast majority of the public have become accustomed to convenience. Even the slightest inconveniences set people off. It is already confusing enough trying to explain to my friends why Steemit is awesome and is the future, this new outlay of coins and separate logins is going to be a definite no-go. I suppose it will get easier in the future. It's easy to judge something at its infancy for being too complex. I'm sure the first few versions of the PC would have been utterly mind-boggling for the average individual, but we are on a bit of a time crunch here as well, with many competing interests, and with the government frothing at the mouth to either create competition (with a FedCoin) or to completely regulate Crypto, which is not far from the horizon. SMTs were Ned's baby. The promise of a bright future online. Websites all over the place adapting SMT's to reward faithful users for their time. People could invest in things they believe in, it was all going to be great. What I have seen so far is a free-for-all grab for tokens once released, and not much return on investment. I'm also seeing complicated separations via login and even more confusion for people trying to easily navigate this stuff. I'm just being honest here, I don't want to login to 50 different places. This is going to become insanity. Pure insanity. As more people adapt SMTs then you will have to login to each individual website in order to collect said coin? And for what, a few cents at a time? I liked it when Steem was the currency, and you could earn it, no matter where you were within the Steemit network. I liked one login, it was simple and easy and straightforward. I'm not really diggin' this new wave of the SMTs. Kinda sucks ballsack. Now this is of course, my extremely likely ignorant position. Coming from a place of only knowing the very MINIMUM about any of this stuff. But isn't that who we are hoping to cater to? Surely we can't expect everyone to be programmers and crypto analysts who are going to put up with a lot of this. We have to figure out how to make it all easier. Anyway, that's just my two cents for the day. I didn't do any flashy pictures or anything today. Just wanted to get this out there. Feel free to tell me how I don't know anything, and don't know what I am talking about. I am just trying to offer up my humble opinion as one of the average people Steemit and Ned are hoping to gain in these endeavors. Had I not started when I did, I would be completely turned off to the whole thing. It's too complex.
