My Newbie guide: Making an Introductory post.(Template inside)
<div class="text-justify">
For the past three weeks I have been on boarding new users and they ask questions like what am I meant to do as soon as they register? what is an introductory post? what should an introductory post contain?<br>
In this post I will be writing on what an introductory post is, what an introductory post should contain and tags to use when writing an inroductory post. I must say that it there is no said pattern for an introductory post but if you are confused, you can use this post to make something acceptable.
<br>

#### What is an introductory post?
An introductory post is a post that you write to make yourself known in the community.The next question is what should an introductory post contain?<br>
An introductory post should contain the following things.
**1. A title:** The title should be brief and concise. I always like to keep things simple. It shouldn't be more than eight words. This is the first thing people see when they read your post. try to make it catchy with the least amount of words.

**2. A brief bio**
This is just a brief write-up about you. It should contain your name, where you stay and if you have a brand, your brand name and your occupation.
**3.	A picture:** A picture of you is most preferred as this shows that your account is a legitimate account and you are not just a spammer. Some people post pictures with them holding a write-up showing the hive logo and their username. I have discovered that this way of posting pictures with username actually gets more rewards(this is just an observation, it might not be so). My first introductory post was with a random picture and i got an upvote from blocktrades back in 2017.
**4. Others:**	You can add your hobbies, best quotes, dislikes and any other thing that you feel people should know about you.

#### What tags can I use when writing an introductory post?
This is another question that comes so frequently after most newbies finish writing their post.I must say that this is as important as the full post. A wrong tag can be likened to putting something in a wrong place expecting the right person to find you.<br>
For starters, the most important tags to use when writing an introductory post is the #introduceyourself tag. It should be used as the first tag. This is the tag that most people use to locate newbies. *This tag is not to be abused as hivewatchers will root you down and make your journey on #hive miserable.*<br>
Other tags to be added should be tags related to what you wrote about. For example if you are a writer, you can put the tag writing. If you are into photography, you can also put the tag photography. This will help people who are related to your niche find you, support you and follow you.<br>
If you were probably introduced to the platform by a community member, you may also tag the community. if you are a member or aspiring to be a member of the community you may also tag them. Example of some communities include BDcommunity, Neoxian, Hive-naija, OCD, GEMS.
<br>
Below is an example of how an introductory post can look like. Like I said it doesn’t have to be like this , but if you have a problem making an introductory post you can use this format.

**Thank you for reading.**

###### Like I earlier said, it doesn’t need to follow this pattern but if you are stuck on how to start you can get a lift from this template. Below are examples of other introductory posts you can look up to help structure your own introductory post.

You can check out the links to the posts below to see other introductory posts.

5. [@asoteldo's introductory post](https://peakd.com/introduceyourself/@asoteldo/introduce-yourself-a-soteldo-passionate-designer-and-tv-host-eng-esp)

If you speak more than one major language, you can make your post in the two languages.
#### On  a final note.....
Take your mind off rewards, focus on creating relationships within your first couple of months on hive. Relationships will take you far in this journey, don't take it for granted.
You don't have to post all the time. Post when you know you have something valuable to add to the community.<br>
Consistency and hardwork will push you far.<br>
Ask questions, track the big boys on the network and see what they are doing that you are not doing, you will definitely find something that will help you on this journey.<br>
Don't underestimate community involvement. This singular thing can give you the motivation you need. I can testify to it.<br>
Engagement is key. every other thing I said might have said above might be relative but engagement is an absolute tool you need for your success on hive.<br>

I wish you goodluck on your journey on #hive.
