I think it's safe to say that I'm not the only one disappointed and confused regarding the abandonment of Segwit2x, but I do have questions based on how close it got and its seemingly abrupt cancellation. 

<ol><li>Was it a ploy to spike the price of Bitcoin?</li>
<li>Was it just another example of speculation regarding an ICO/BTC Upgrade that got out of hand when nothing was really set in stone?</li>
</ol>

I personally think it was a mixture of both.  I think that claims of the certainty of the upgrade were blown out of proportion due to the fact that it was one of the main topics to write about and a topic that was continually harped upon.  This continued prevalence in the media led to the virality of the notion that this was certain (or, at least, very close to certain).  Something that was not known or not talked about was that there was waning support for the upgrade.   Hindsight is 20/20 and it is important that information is taking with a grain of salt when it comes to situations like this.   

Now, there is a large panic occurring, many scared about the technical issues (specifically, transaction speed and the current ability to handle transaction volume) with Bitcoin, but it still has the brand value and the following, as well as the position as the main cryptocurrency that public exchanges let you convert U.S. Dollars too that will likely keep the price stable enough (and likely it will continue this zig zagging increase).   That said, the market will always determine the price with Bitcoin (except in the case of fraud, if that is occurring), so there is always a POSSIBILITY that the price could drop.   That said, watch for coming news regarding potential technical alternatives (could be Ethereum, Ripple, or many other current high market cap, high-speed contenders, but we will see), because important changes will be taking place within the next 1-6 months (that's my educated guess based on what I perceive to be the current speed of acceleration of the Blockchain Industry's Growth, but do your own research)!
