I'd like to open a casual idea up for discussion: **Authors should get to decide when their first payout happens, subject to some lenient limits.**

Right now, when a post is published, it has a 24-hour period in which to collect votes. If it gains traction and gets significant SP voting for it, the initial payout is automatically extended. When the first scheduled payout rolls around, the author is paid. Cool.

But what if I write something, it doesn't get votes in its first 24 hours, but I really really believe in it? Why shouldn't I be able to defer my first payout for another day (or week?) to give me more time to promote it?

On the other hand, say I have a post and it's gotten a bunch of votes and I want to claim my payout for it *right now.* Maybe I like the current SBD/Steem ratio and I want to grab it before it drops; maybe I just need the money now, maybe I want the SP to start accruing interest earlier. Why shouldn't I be able to click a button that says "pay out now" and get my earnings immediately?

## The Proposal
Give authors a degree of control over the timing of their first payout. This could include a maximum time limit (a week? 30 days?) on the payout.
