**Well I got to see the Black Panther movie that has generated a lot of interest among critics, black community and movie goers in general. First off I want to appreciate Marvel Inc for coming up in with such a character in the first place as it rare to have an independent black nation with advanced technology in reality or fiction. I also like the fact that Marvel gave Ryan Coogler(black director) the nod to prove himself and boy he did not disappoint.**

**The movie has so many positives but what stood out for me is the active role played by the women, in Shura, Nakia and General Okoye(my favourite) we had women that were well educated, given active role in nation building, who were more than willing to risk all to protect the sovereignty of their nation. The women were certainly not relegated to the background in this movies and they could measure up to any man in their chosen career.**

**However I would certainly have loved to see the Erik Killmonger character again in a sequel as Michael B Jordan played the role to almost perfection, I would have preferred redemption for such character,I mean he was the villain but you cant just get enough of him, at a point I was rooting for him against T'Challa. The movie wouldnt have been the same without Killmonger and Okoye characters. All in all it was great seeing an almost black cast with a black director film for once.**

#### **Reality Check.....**

**While the movie was great to watch the sad reality is I don't see a Wakanda in any of the African countries today or the nearest future, I mean an independent technological advanced African country is not really a bad idea. Of course Wakanda was built with Vibranium but in reality African countries have vast amount of resources which have not been utilised, in fact these resources have been more of a curse than blessing.**

**This should be a wake up call for all African countries to strive towards greater heights, if Hollywood could see us in a better light I see no reason why we shouldn't see greatness in ourselves.**
