An attempt at some humor for the Cryptoshots Lore. Might as well incorporate all 3 of the NFTs given too 🤣. --- How did he, the Great Captain Rogers, infamous pirate of the 7 galaxies end up in this situation. Muttering under his breath and cursing his foul luck, he had no idea his misadventures would have landed him in this hellhole... --- After being unceremoniously booted from the Cryptoshots Galactic Council of Pirates, of which he was a founding member too, he had been on a quest to redeem his standing amongst his peers. He would not stand for his rival, the Not-So-Great Captain Jolly, sitting on his throne as the new head of the Council. The only way to regain his standing of course, was to accomplish something no pirate had ever done before, retrieve the legendary ancient laser shotgun used by the very first Space Pirate, the Greatest Captain Yarrr! Of course, this was easier said than done, with the object not having been seen by anyone alive at all in this very day and age. The legendary weapon had been wielded by the Greatest Captain Yarrr as he had brought about a new Golden Age of Piracy in space. Not since the discovery of the New World in ancient times had pirates commanded such power and influence yet again. It was said that the reason for his success was the mythical weapon which imbued it's wielder with an almost divine power to blast any enemies away with a mere shot. Truth be told, Captain Rogers didn't really believe in any such properties of the weapon. It was probably a legend embellished through retellings as the story was handed down through generations of pirates. At least, he did not believe it till now! --- His search for the weapon had brought his trusty ship, the infamous Millennium Firefly, to the very ends of the galaxy. His ship had struck fear into the hearts of all merchant ships as he raided them in open space. A unique triangular shaped ship, it looked nothing like a firefly of course, but it's problematic engines sometimes malfunctioned and let off a trail of sparks as he hunted down his prey. Owing to pure luck, or skill as Captain Rogers himself would claim, his ship never actually malfunctioned at the crucial moments as he caught up with his targets. All his victims saw was a trail of sparks as the Millennium Firefly's engines sputtered into life before chasing them down. --- The search for the legendary Laser Shotgun of the Greatest Captain Yarrr brought Captain Rogers and his Millennium Firefly through a wormhole inside a blackhole. No one would have risked such certain doom, but to Captain Rogers, he would rather have died than have the thought of Captain Jolly lording it over him. As he appeared through the other end, miraculously still alive with the Millennium Firefly still intact, he found himself in a primordial world populated with Dinosaurs. His jaw hung open in shock that such a world existed. No one had seen any evidence of such creatures for millions of years. The ancient humans who claimed to have discovered the bones of these creatures were were just a fairytale, with any such fossils having long turned into dust - if they actually existed at all. As the Millennium Firefly zipped past these magnificent beasts, it's tracker alerted him to an energy anomaly reading inside a massive cavern. Moving at full speed, he felt his quest would finally be at an end and he could return in triumph. The the deeper he flew into the cavern, the more he realised how unusually massive it seemed, it was almost as if he was out in the vastness of space again. His ship's indicators were completely unresponsive as he lost sense of all direction. All he could do was follow his instinct in moving forwards, or what he thought seemed to be forwards, as he continued along deeper in. He finally saw his target and gasped, not at the legendary weapon itself, which was suspended in midair, absolutely glowing radiantly with some unknown energy source, but at the armada of destroyed ships around it. The age and design of those ships looked like they came from all across time, drawn to this unearthly graveyard, probably in search of the magical Laser Shotgun themselves. He shuddered, wondering what disaster caused the destruction of these ships. Whatever it was, his own Millennium Firefly was probably in danger too. He had to zip in, snatch the weapon, and make a retreat as fast as he could. As he navigated close enough to activate his tractor beam to pull in the weapon, a thunderous roar reverberated across the cavern. A massive winged beast shot a burst of flames at Captain Rogers and he narrowly evaded it by furiously pounding on the controls of the Millennium Firefly. His eyes almost popped out of their sockets as he realised he was staring at a Dragon. A real life mythical dragon, the stuff of fairy tales, was attacking him. The very object he was hunting was part of the Dragon's treasure hoard! So that was what caused the destruction of all these other ships around him. No choice now, he thought. Activating the full shields of his ship as he continued pulling the Laser Shotgun in, he decide to sacrifice his defenses to acquire his target. His trusty Firefly would utilise it's speed (and his own "skillful" piloting) to make a run for it after that. As the shields got burned down, the tractor beam finally pulled the legendary Laser Shotgun in. He gave a victorious cheer as he pushed the controls to burn the Millennium Firefly's thrusters for a full retreat. His trusty ship sped off leaving the furious Dragon chasing him in it's wake. Another victory from the jaws of death, he would go back with his status elevated beyond even the Greatest Captain Yarrr himself. He was almost at the cavern's entrance again, the light at the end of the tunnel was just in the distance. Just a few seconds more and he would be able to jump back into the wormhole into the safety of space. All of a sudden, the Millennium Firefly's engines started spluttering and burst into flames as it suddenly exploded. Captain Rogers groaned in defeat as the engines completely died as the ship crashed down into the earth. His trusty ship had chosen to finally fail him at this most crucial of times, right when he was on the brink of escape. The jaws of the Dragon approached as the fires raged around him. The Millennium Firefly was swallowed whole while being burnt to a crisp with Captain Rogers inside. He hugged the Laser Shotgun, some consolation in the fact that he had at least somewhat succeeded in his quest, as he faced a fiery death. ---
