While studying html I decided to take an online workshop for learning the basics. HTML stand for Hyper Text Markup Language. The workshop goals was to teach me:

Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
• Use a text editor to author an HTML document.
• Be able to use basic tags to denote paragraphs, emphasis or special type.
• Create hyperlinks to other documents.
• Create an email link.
• Add images to your document
. • Use a table for layout.
Apply colors to your HTML document.
The prerequisites were not hard for me because I use Notepad and Microsoft Word. For this workshop and when writing in HTML in general Microsoft Word is not encouraged while Notepad is encouraged. For the Internet browser I used the Steemit Post area to view the work I would complete in order to see if it was compatible with Steemit. I also used the work area on W3Schools.
During the workshop, I learned what an html file is. It is simply tags and codes that a web browser can interpret in order to display what you tell it on a computer screen. The html file must have a htm or html file extension.
I noticed after a few sessions of working in html the set-up is similar when setting the page up. It is the html tag that goes first then the head and body tags.
On the Steemit platform there is no need for html, head, or title tags because it is already there when you create the post. The tags are basically the key words and there is already a place for your title. Head tag header information /head closing tag, This information does not show on the web page and is also not allowed when posting on Steemit. The post area is also the body area of your html work.

This workshop gave some great advice. The best advice it gave about learning HTML is to simply look at someone’s work by viewing it in the browser under Page Source.
HTML tags are surrounded by angle brackets <>. They normally come in pairs as open and closed tags put the / in front of the word where you want to close the tag you open. For example, start, /start tags. HTML tags are not case sensitive but it is best to use lowercase letters.
While learning the basics about HTML they talked a lot about tags. Tags obviously play a very important role in HTML. In the workshop they also suggested to use style sheets to add style to HTML page instead of physical tags.
Nested tags must close in the proper order. Tags also can have attribues. A tag tell the browser to do something and the attribute tells the browser how to do it.
During the workshop I read,
Attributes always come in name/value pairs like this: name="value". Attributes are always added to the start tag of an HTML element and the value is surrounded by quotes.
I learned the difference between logical tags and physical tags. I’ve decided to work with physical tags until I learn how to use style sheets. CSS is the style sheets. HTML and CSS goes hand and hand.
Background tags can not be used on the Steemit post. I’ve learned about the unordered list and ordered list at Code School and of course it is an HTML basic.
This workshop has went over a lot of HTML basics so now I will continue learning more about HTML and how to incorporate it in my posts.
https://steemitimages.com/DQmRbTsT14h6jTsXMhN1d7142DKXNUVeLwgBLCZcA1Pqazr/Blockgators%20New%20Closure%20Tag.gif

Buy a Steemit T-Shirt while supplies Last

Want more followers and upvotes?
