You would have heard many news nowadays about crypocurrency wallet hacks, ICOs getting compromised, your own devices getting compromised for mining  like recently what ThePiratebay was doing, so i think there should be more awareness campaigns to address all theses issues and let normal users realize what truly is at stake from their digital lives.

**Signalling System No. 7 (SS7)** is a very old vulnerability which is used to compromise sensitive accounts and taking full control over it. Its workflow is very simple, an attacker could access your text messages containing authentication codes and can make new transactions on your behalf without even letting  you know.

Many many social website accounts also has been victim of this specific vulnerability. In recent research conducted by **Positive Technologies**, they elaborated that to compromise **Coinbase** account the only information needed was First name, Last name, Phone number and Gmail account. So two-factor SMS security for GMAIL was easily exploited by re-setting their credentials.

This method also became famous after NSA hacking tools were leaked and uploaded on WIKILEAKS.

Right now, it is currently not possible to opt out of this security method because this is universally adopted standard for two-factor authorization 2FA.  

**Google is currently working on passwordless login procedure which they are claiming to be more secure than current traditional methods but its still in BETA phase. Let's see what future unfolds for our cyber scurity because lots of research work is also done Quantum Cryptography.**
