This is probably because I was living with my parents in a big city and looking forward to a great summer vacation. Holiday I spent with my grandparents, far from the world and crowded, in a small village in the north of the country, Romania.

Holidays were my paradise and always happened in summer, all summer. I think for this reason summer has remained my favorite season, even though it is getting hotter and harder to bear in the big cities.

Summer differs, of course, depending on the relief, it is somehow on the mind and hill, otherwise on the plain and otherwise on the sea. Although I grew up in an area at the confluence of the hill with the plain, the summer that fascinates me is that of the plain and the sea.

On the other hand, I try to make the road to the place for the vacation to be part of the vacation. Of course, this is less possible if you travel by plane. I prefer the car. It gives me the freedom to enjoy what I can see along the way.

I live in Bucharest, Romania. I love the sea! Every summer I have to reach the sea. The closest to me is the Black Sea. On the Romanian coast I arrive in two hours on the highway. But I prefer to go to the Bulgarian coast for three reasons: on the Romanian coast I have been many times, the Bulgarian coast is more attractive and the road is much, much more pleasant than the highway ...
##
And so I finally got on the road to Balchik!

To get to Bulgaria I have to cross a region called Dobrogea. A region that now belongs to Romania but also belonged to Bulgaria in the past. Like Balchick!

So, after a boring hour of driving on the freeway, the Sun Freeway, so it is called and I find that the name was well chosen, I chose to continue the route to Bulgaria on secondary roads. Secondary roads, where you travel at a slower speed but that leave you the joy of looking around, admiring the scenery. This is the kind of road I like when I go on vacation.

A deserted road, in the plain, which seems to be lost on the horizon. A suffocating heat that announces a small storm, with threatening clouds.

However, I prefer not to rain and fortunately this is what happened. Thus I had the opportunity to admire the surroundings, the heat mix with the cold of a possible rain. I am especially delighted when I can look away, at the wide spaces you can only see in the plain.

After a year spent in the crowded city not only people, not only cars but especially crowded buildings that do not let you look away. The sight dies on the first building in front that covers the sky and the horizon. Yes, now I realize, the lack of horizon I miss most.

A journey with many stops, it is hard to resist so much beauty. Mostly I like to see how the images are altered by the warm air, real paintings.

Then the flowers! Wheat chains and red poppies. What could be more beautiful?

Wild flowers, aromatic herbs, you can find them all. Attraction my wife can't resist. She always gathers huge bouquets.

I would stay there longer but my small car is waiting for us, there are another two hundred kilometers to Balchik. I almost forgot where I was going. The little beauty in the middle of the countryside made my day beautiful.

In this beautiful region there are not only fields and flowers. It is a Balkan region so goats are everywhere. I like goats, they are curious and agile.

It also passed by the water. I love the water, be it river, lake or sea. A small turtle was the sign that the river is near.

The river is not a common river, it is the largest in Europe. It is the Danube River.

The Danube, which springs from the Black Forest Mountains of Germany, flows into the Black Sea, in Romania. Before reaching the sea, it forms a huge delta.

This was a portion, the most beautiful in my opinion, from the route I take to the sea in summer, in Bulgaria, to Balchik. I'll get to Balchik with another blog. Now I just wanted to show that the holiday does not matter only the destination but also the road to the desired destination. Many times the road is even more beautiful.

*I once initiated a challenge called SAM. Something About Me. I thought it was good for our readers to know more about us and to understand better what we are posting. Well, SAM is dead but I still think it would be in everyone's interest to get to know each other better. This is the reason for the short presentation below!*

###
@bluemoon
* *I am Dan and I live in Bucharest, Romania. Born in 1954, married and retired. I worked in construction and banking system. My passions: Art (film, music, photography, painting), Travel and even Cooking.* * *Romania is the sixth largest country in the European Union. Unfortunately, due to over fifty years of communism (1947-1989) and a reluctant transition to capitalism (1990 and up to now), Romania is among the least economically and socially developed countries. I hope this will settle quickly in the near future. Instead, it is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe!*

#####
[Don't believe the word, please check here!](https://steemit.com )

|
@bluemoon |
Thank you! |
Disclaimer | | -------- | -------- | -------- | | https://media.giphy.com/media/iMQfb5oBMfxNq4h5Jh/giphy.gif |
**I made this post with passion, effort, and respect for you.
