Why do that?

We are there, in the new year. Which of course is little but a convention. Somehow it oftentimes feels quite ordinary - which makes more sense, even in terms of the physics and astronomy involved. Yes, it is another trip around our star, the Sun - but there are many other phenomena, cycles, etc. in the world. Be that as it may, to yours truly there is little distinction between weekdays and weekends or regular days and holidays. Which has to do with his lifestyle, probably. But regardless of that - there is a dynamic to one's life. It is not clear sometimes what it is but it is there. I am neither a fatalist, nor a full believer in determinism - I believe some of what happens to us is caused by external factors, some of it is what we get to choose for ourselves. It is hard to tell where the line lies separating one from the other. But I think it is important to remember that no matter what your station is in life, so long as you are still alive and not comatose you are still able to exert some influence on the world around you. And then the question arises, how do you choose to exert that influence? And yes, we all answer this question, even if by default. I must admit, that was how I answered it on more than one occasion. That is what is colloquially known as going with the flow. And I operated this way until I started getting a persistent feeling that the world is not going in the right direction. Of course, one often hears that if one is not in power one should not concern oneself with such matters. Because, those skeptics would say, "What can you do?" But isn't that the question? And is there a way to answer it without trying? And I feel like it is prevalence of lies, manipulation and deception that is responsible for most ills of the world. So I am trying to right that wrong by helping people learn things mainstream "authoritative" sources - mainstream media, academia, et al. - are not likely to bring to them. And yes, it feels a bit fruitless at times - but then again, I see some changes in the society that indicate that knowledge I am trying to bring to my audience is gaining ground. So it is not fruitless. It is just a long grind. And that is what it is. And there won't be many holidays for someone who is working on this mission as the grind never stops. ## Links *Follow the link below to see related publications and support this publication* [Linktree](https://linktr.ee/roarofsanity)
