Let’s be honest. Getting up early for office days sucks. It sucked in 1998. It sucks now. And unless you’re some kind of 5 AM Club biohacker with a kale smoothie fetish, it’ll keep sucking forever.

But then there are mornings like this.

The kind where the sunrise is so ridiculous, so cinematic, you half-expect Morgan Freeman to start narrating your life. “And on that morning… he realized… maybe it _was_ worth hauling his tired ass out of the car.”

Look, this wasn’t shot on some overpriced smartphone that claims it’s a DSLR with a TikTok filter. And no, I didn’t send up the drone like some Instagram influencer trying to “find himself” in Bali. This was the Fujifilm X-T2. The old faithful. The _carry-always_ camera. (Okay… confession: it was in the car. But I DID get out. Which, for a pre-coffee office morning, is basically a triathlon.)

### Lesson #1: The Camera You Carry Wins

There’s a lesson here bigger than photography (cue dramatic music): The tools you actually use are worth more than the ones you _think_ you’ll use “someday.” My X-T2 isn’t the latest shiny toy, but it got the job done. Just like showing up gets the job done. Every. Single. Time.

### Lesson #2: Beauty Doesn’t Text You First

You don’t get views like this from bed. You don’t get them from scrolling reels of people seeing _their_ sunrises. You get them by showing up. Even when it’s inconvenient. Especially then.

### Lesson #3: The Pain of Regret > The Pain of Effort

Back in my day (cue nostalgic 90s music), we didn’t have social media FOMO—we had actual FOMO. Like “I didn’t get the shot because I left my camera at home” FOMO. That kind of regret sticks. Getting out of the car? That’s just effort. Effort fades. Regret stays.

So yeah… getting up early still sucks. But sometimes, the world throws you a bone. A fiery, mist-soaked, “holy-crap-I-should-print-this” bone.

And for the record: The X-T2 and the 18-55? Still a killer combo. Stop worrying about your gear, and start worrying about your excuses.

Now… go take the damn shot.
