How To Hatch Chicken and Quail Eggs Using Incubators
Hi fellow Steemians! I hope you are all well! In some of my recent posts I have discussed a few integrated farming programs, with the focus being on the farming of livestock, specifically chickens and quails. In this post, I would like to connect the discussions and add to them by educating you on the hatching process when farming poultry.

The main reason why I want to share this information with you is because it might enlighten someone to start their own farming business, as a future trade. With this in mind, for those of you who are interested in farming birds, here’s what you need to do.

### Preparing the Incubators

The first step in hatching chicks is to prepare the incubators. Incubators must be equipped with lights, a thermostat, thermometer and water. The lights serve as heaters to generate warmth and the thermostats regulate the desired heat. Using your thermometer, you can ensure you have the required temperature. The ideal temperature should reach no more than 40 ° C (100 ° F). Lastly, the water serves as a moisturizer so that when the eggs hatch, the transition between the old and new environment is not too harsh.

#### Once you have prepared the incubators, you can follow these steps:

1. Choose eggs that have an optimal shape, they should not be too round or too oval. An egg should be medium in size and it has to be fertilized.

2. Place your fertile eggs into your incubators. Turn the eggs gently at least twice a day, preferably in the morning and evening. Like the way shown in the image below.

3. When the incubated egg reaches one week in age, you will need to study it in a darkened room with a small focus light, to see if an embryo is developing. As seen in the picture below.

4. Once the incubated egg reaches two weeks of age, it must be checked again, to make sure the embryo is developing as it should. At this stage you will be able to see that the embryo is now forming a head and other parts that follow the form of a bird.

5. Your chicks will start hatching after about 21 days from when they were first incubated (quail eggs start hatching a little earlier while duck eggs sometimes only hatch at around 28 days).

#### If the above 5 steps are followed diligently, then the breeder will yield a successful brood.
