Thoughts on Cradles, a BSC NFT game

----------

A short time ago I started hearing some chatter about a new NFT game on the Binance Smart Chain called Cradles. I jumped into their Discord server and I found that it was a pretty robust community. I guess it makes sense given the number of people who are playing around over on BSC with things like DeFi and all of that.

It is actually smart on the part of the [Cradles](https://www.cradles.io/) team since there is a lot of money floating around over on BSC.

As I said, the Discord was active. Like really active. In fact, so active that I needed to mute notifications for the server because I was seriously getting about one every half hour if not more on a particularly busy day.

Pretty clear there is a lot of hype around this project. I wanted to get on board...

Today they had their first launch of the Ammonites packs. I was pretty excited. I was all ready to make some buys at 8 PM EST. Good thing (or not) I popped into the Discord server earlier today and found that since I was logged into my ETH MetaMask wallet and not the BSC Network, my clock was off by about seven hours.

The sale was happening in about 5 minutes and I needed to be ready. Thankfully, I had moved some money from BUSD to BNB, so I was all set fund wise.

More set than the team was...

About four minutes before the sale was supposed to start, all of the assets were showing as sold out. The team had to do some quick work to their website and just a couple minutes after the sale time, things were "fixed". Then a couple seconds later everything was gone.

I'm not purposely trying to make this a hit piece on Cradles. I know that things like this happen with launches and trust me, I am more understanding about that than a lot of people. Especially when there is so much money floating around.

I do feel overall this whole thing was a miss for me though. There were about seven different assets available for purchase today. The website was a bit confusing about how many you could purchase though. What looked like a per person limit of 30 items on their site was actually a limit on the whole of the items.

So, for example, many people believed that and individual could purchase a quantity 30 of each of the packs. That is where we were wrong... The reality was, there were 30 total packs of each variety for everyone in the world to buy.

That on top of the small interface issues at launch meant that a lot of people were left out in the cold.

I am all for limited releases, but when you are on a chain as big as BSC, 30 total is a bit ridiculous. No worries they say in the discord... Tomorrow we are releasing another 50, then the next day 100, then that is all. That still seems like a really low supply to me.

I attempted to make about seven purchases of different items in this sale. Three of them went through. Two of them the items showed in my inventory. The other one did not. The final four failed even though I clicked right as the sale opened. Apparently it sold out that quickly.

I worked with support and expressed my frustrations and eventually the lower value item showed up in my account.

All that being said, this one was kind of a miss for me. I know I am likely going to be kicking myself one day that I didn't get in on this early (it looks like it could have a lot of potential), but there are just too many other projects out there that are more established and have a better track record.

Given the new Splinterlands news today, I might take my BNB and swap it to some SPS so I can be ready for Chaos Legion. I think that might be just as lucrative. I have a feeling the Cradles sale tomorrow is going to go much the same way as it did today.

Again, I agree that making something unique and desirable is important, but when you disillusion 90% of your followers right off the bat, that doesn't bode well for your project.

It's a safe bet the Cradles team made at least a cool $20,000 off their launch today. Congrats to them for that. To those who missed out on the sale, I feel your pain and best of luck if you choose to try again tomorrow. As for me, I will likely pass.
