Handling disappointment
I received some disappointing news today.

It wasn't anything too bad. I didn't get a job I interviewed for last week. It would have been something a little more keeping with my education, training, and talents. I thought I had a good interview.

And yet, obviously, it wasn't enough.

Well, I'm a little bummed, of course.

Besides what I mentioned above, the job would have seen a boost in my income, which is always nice.

I'm a pessimist by nature, so I'm not in a great mood, but on the flip side, as a pessimist, I didn't have high expectations to begin with.

A great motto of mine: Expect the worst, and you're never disappointed.

I've also learned to see the positive in situations as well.

So here's the good news:

I enjoy my current job. I'm good at it, I'm a valued team member, and I know what I'm doing. The schedule I'm working is in tune with my natural biology. I get along with my colleagues. Tonight, my little girl is performing in the school play, and my supervisor graciously allowed me to come in late with no penalty to attend the play.

I know from experience, it's easier to find a job when you have one than not. And losing this opportunity isn't the end of the road for me. Now, I can upgrade my efforts to get my own writing done, and to earn my license, to make myself even more useful within the company that's been good to me.

God bless.
