How government policies could benefit the people and my cleaning activity on 26-02-2025.

Man since the beginning of his existence possesses this quality of adapting to situations they find themselves. When things are working as it should they enjoy the benefits, but when they are not, they go with the flow and try to make things work for themsleves, by themselves.

For some time in my city, even when the citizens are imposed to pay levies and taxes, the social amenities with which those levies are being imposed are not provided. Did everyone complain? obviously. Did the citizens allow this get the best of them? Not for a minute.

When there was never free education for the children, private schools were established to teach pupils and students. Parents would enroll their children and pay the bills even as many would complain, but would they pay? For sure. When there were no boreholes for water to be easily assessed, those who could drill one for themsleves did so and made it available to those who couldn't for a stipulated price.

Even when there were no environmental agents patrolling the various streets to collect refuses from people, many turned this to their means of survival, visiting houses, shops, streets and anywhere they could see people, collecting their refuses and disposing it while charging them depending on how big or small their refuses are. When there weren't any electricity, people who could afford it provided solar panels for themselves to generate power, others buy generators and power them with petrols no matter how cheap or expensive it was. No matter how the condition of things were, everyone was determined to survive.

There is this saying that "Whenever the good rules, the ruled rejoices". For sometime now in my city, I've realised this words to be true. Many of these social amenities the citizens pay for are being made available, some for free while subsidies are provided for others. Making it possible for the ordinary man to enjoy the benefits of the levies they pay.

One of these social amenities is the constant presence of the environmental agents who come with their vehicles to make it possible for people around to dispose of their refuse, although they stay in one place for a period of time, while allowing people to come over to dispose these dirts.

Today at work, I realized these agents are coming from a distance, I decided to use this opportunity to gather the litters I find all over the building I work in and the ones I see in the streets too. Before I could know it, my basket was filled with dirts. Then I rushed and disposed it in the vehicle when they came closer to our building.

People watching were surprised to see me picking dirts up from the street, I hope it teaches them how important it is to maintain a cleanplanet. Here are some pictures I took during the exercise...
