As you know, @brandt predicted that the world would end yesterday. And as you also know, this prediction was incorrect. The world did not in fact end yesterday. As you know. # <center>@brandt sincerely regrets the error.</center> <hr> By way of apology, I'd like to invite you to accompany me on a hike into Leadville, Colorado's [Historic Mining District](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leadville_mining_district). Perhaps being together in nature will allow you to see me in a different light, and forgive me for incorrectly predicting the world's end. We can enjoy the scenery together and _try_ to find reasons to be thankful that the world didn't end yesterday. There aren't any reasons to be thankful for that, of course. But still, we can _try_ to find them. We can go out into nature and we can have _moments_ together. We can wax eloquent to each other in the company of none save the snowclothed evergreens, and the brokedown cabins of yestercentury, and the rocky mountain giants all around us who rise up with the anticipation of releasing their snowslides down upon us to bury us forever. # <center>C'mon, it'll be fun!</center> <hr>  <hr>  <hr>  <hr>  <hr>  <hr>  <hr> # <center>Okay stop the fun.</center> <br>Stay right here, okay? Probably more than one, given all the snow-melt-freeze cycles we've had the last month. Yeah, east-facing. Weak ground layer, too, I bet. Gimme that shovel. I'll be _right back_. It's _crucial_ that you stay _right here_ while I go check out that wind-loaded east-facing slope that is literally an avalanche waiting to happen, and is also located directly above this cabin.
