I have a 30 minute commute to work in traffic, so I often listen to audiobooks in the car.  I had heard about the John Grisham series Theodore Boone – Kit Lawyer a while back, but it was not high on my priority reading list, but I got around to listening to the first two books recently.

John Grisham is a famous legal thriller writer, however, this series is more basic in technical legal elements and writing style as it is designed to also be able to be read by young teens.  Due to this, there is a lot of explaining of more basic concepts so a legal newbie might also enjoy these.

After the first two books in the series, I can say that it is a worthwhile read (or listen).  Theodore Boone is a kid lawyer (parents are also lawyers) who is the resource and help for many of his classmates and friends.  Trouble also seems to find a way to him, and the character is endearing as he uses the legal system to work his way through crime solving and social injustices. 

The first book is an introduction and heavy on the background, but still has a great storyline, and the second book, Theodore Boone – Abduction moves quite fast.  There are currently 6 books in the series, which started in 2011.  The books are shorter than a standard novel, so they are fairly quick to get through with a fast moving storyline.  I will not spoil the storylines for you, so you will have to read them yourself.

Overall, I would give the Theodore Boone series a 5 out of 5 Steem so far after two books.  I would caution that seasoned readers and those with a high technical knowledge of the US legal system might be slightly bored, but for regular folks like me, the stories are engaging and the series has been an entertaining read… therefore, I recommend you check them out!
