No matter how much I liked a post, if the poster asks for an upvote he can be sure he won't get one from me. 

In a general sort of way, the quality of the vast bulk of what gets posted here on Steemit is absolutely appalling. You can scroll through pages of posts and get nothing more than reams of semi-literate desperadoes whoring for attention and votes. 

This post is a typical example: just a link to a video, no comment, no agreement or disagreement, no brief synopsis of what we are about to see, not even a note on how long it is. But we should upvote it?

Jeez, I think I should head over to YouTube and start copying and pasting links - I could create a hundred Steemit posts in a day, and my wallet would finally be worth something... :-)
