As I think about this topic, all I can do is wonder, what did this year not teach me? What I have learned is a lot, and probably enough to write a book. I know for a fact that I am a very different person from the one that had screamed “Happy New Year” on the first day of January this year. I have come a long way from who I was then, and for that, I have also learned more about myself.

This year has been a rollercoaster, very much like the crypto world has been as well. There’s been lots of ups and downs, so many it’s crazy. And when you try to keep up, you’ll find yourself getting dizzy by the speed of it all. But then, life is not easy, nothing worthwhile can ever be easy. So we would work hard for things, we would try out new things, and we would make mistakes. We learn, and we move on, hoping to do better in the future. Life goes on.

As I said, I learned a lot of things this year, and seeing as the topic asks for just one, that is what I will share with you all.

This year was a year I got intentional with searching for opportunities, the ones that will further my career as a writer and will of course add to my paycheck. Right from January, I started being intentional about what I wanted as a writer and I chose not to settle for less. And you know what I learned from this? There are always opportunities, they are around us. We just don’t see them.

The economy is hard, there is a financial crunch all over the country. But still, people are buying flashy cars and spraying wads of cash into the air at celebrations. It seems like the more you lack this money, the more some other people are getting it. That is just how it is for opportunities, it might look like one person seems to have all the luck when it comes to figuring out opportunities, and the other just does not get it. Nothing comes his way.

I learned that an opportunity is useless and worthless if when it meets you, you are not prepared. There is nothing more saddening than seeing something you need but losing it just because you were not ready. That hurts a lot.

![2dk2RRM2dZ8gKjXsrozapsD83FxL3Xbyyi5LFttAhrXxr16mCe4arfLHA37mQtCuynkak9C9VAxm3nacdB7gLmLiZLuYVhHeNsRgxL6WKJoam3hs2B7ZLAp2jwaLFEwoAbLKzAfpv2DhtyvHbJunTbU58RMbxtkvefNK4qj8EA.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/bruno-kema/23uQjgVmrAnHpC8591rvFiqMt8qgbe4CrQ4gszk8VG46VKmR1tTLt4Yx4YtqwDd81r7Fi.png)

And then, another thing I learned, is that not all opportunities are meant to be taken. There are some that are perfect for you, and there are those that are not. The fact that you stumbled on them first does not mean you have to take them, you just have to tell them to the ones who will actually need them. It could be that you are just there as a messenger to pass the good news to the one who the opportunity will most likely favor.

As I said earlier, opportunities are everywhere. You just have to know how to look for them. And I am sure that as we move on to the New Year, more opportunities will crop up.

All we need is to pray for discernment, so we would be able to see the right opportunities that will work best for us. And not just that, but also the ability to be very ready at all times, so that the moment it shows its face, we would be geared up and ready to go.

Well, all this requires us to be intentional about what we actually want. When we are going after something, we are meant to have an idea of what exactly we want out of that thing we are going after. It is that end goal that will plot our course and determine our actions and decisions that will lead us there.

![2dk2RRM2dZ8gKjXsrozapsD83FxL3Xbyyi5LFttAhrXxr16mCe4arfLHA37mQtCuynkak9C9VAxm3nacdB7gLmLiZLuYVhHeNsRgxL6WKJoam3hs2B7ZLAp2jwaLFEwoAbLKzAfpv2DhtyvHbJunTbU58RMbxtkvefNK4qj8EA.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/bruno-kema/23uQjgVmrAnHpC8591rvFiqMt8qgbe4CrQ4gszk8VG46VKmR1tTLt4Yx4YtqwDd81r7Fi.png)

And so, my dear friends, in a nutshell. This year has been a great one for me, I have learned a lot and I have also enjoyed great times. This year really showed me *shege*, but I didn’t let that deter me. Life moves on regardless. And I now know that as long as I was able to overcome the initial *shege*, I will definitely be able to handle whatever else life throws at me.

Of this, I am sure.
