*** <br> There are people who will never be able to properly take care of other people’s things. They know very well how to borrow stuff, but they use it carelessly and will never return it in the same condition that you gave it to them. I don’t know if it’s because they’re not the ones who spent the money to acquire said thing, and as a result, they’re not as motivated as you are to take good care of it. I’m always on the lookout for such people, they can only fool me once. Because there is no way I’d give you something and you’ll mishandle it, then you expect me to give you something else another time. That is just not happening. I don’t care what you have to say, if I can’t trust you with my stuff, then I’m not giving it to you. I’m sure you have such people in your lives as well. You give them shoes, but it would come back worse than when they took them. They take your phone for a minute and return it with a cracked screen, you borrow them a dress, and they return it torn. You lend them your car and they scratch it or even crash it somewhere. There will always be one thing or the other that will be wrong with it. This will either cost you money or force you to abandon them altogether. But then, their own stuff never seems to get into these mishaps. They take proper care of their things but can’t extend the courtesy to other people’s stuff. Just like people who will be willing to beat and punish other people’s kids, but will always handle their kids like eggs. It’s a very sick mentality. And once I notice that someone is like that, I’d never trust them with something of mine. Because I know that it would only give me headaches. But then, there are those who go about changing all sorts of things with your stuff that by the time you retrieve it, it no longer feels like your own. Imagine giving someone your phone for one thing or the other and when you take it back, they’ve changed some settings, changed your wallpaper, changed some default settings, font type and size, changed the theme of the phone. Or your laptop even… causing you to start resetting everything before you can enjoy the device as usual. Of course, they’d have an excuse for all that, one that would make sense in their heads. However, as long as I wasn’t informed before they made such changes, I would never be okay with it. That’s it! I’m the kind of person that likes my phone and laptop in a particular way, anything else puts off my flow when working. Having someone change it all would definitely be the start of what could be a bad day. Car owners would definitely understand the frustration of borrowing someone your car, and getting it back with so many changes. The seats have been adjusted, your playlist has been scattered, and the mirrors are no longer aligned. Or the ones that will leave the car dirty and filled with trash. It can be a very painful experience. That’s why when people are hesitant about letting others drive their vehicle, there’s usually a painful backstory involved. But then, I’m not saying that one shouldn’t lend out stuff. If you have, you can give. I just wish that people would be able to take care of borrowed things like they take care of their own. Don’t use it carelessly and make sure you return it in good condition. Because I’ve seen relationships crumble over things like this. It might not be at once, but over time, a culmination of multiple infractions would lead to the dissolution of what would have been a great relationship. We have to do better. I could also talk about those who borrow things and find it hard to return them, or even begin to get a sense of entitlement. But I won’t, I believe that’s a story for another day. I’ve said enough for today. *** <br> <center>Thank you for reading. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below, I would love to know what you’re thinking.
