If you are a Nigerian and you live in Nigeria, it is now four days to the Presidential election. If you are eligible to vote and you have collected your permanent voter’s card, the time to use it to take back your country is already at hand. There is no excuse whatsoever, that day is automatically a public holiday, schools won’t hold and businesses won’t open. You will get off your butts and get to your polling unit.

This is the moment we have been waiting for years, we have endured so much rubbish and had to stomach so many things we didn’t like. The only thing that kept us going through it all was the 2023 elections. We knew that it was what we were going to use to make a statement, and it was going to be what will give us back our country.

As the countdown continues, it seems like things just want to keep on getting worse. Things have never been this bad before in the country, and it is at a peak that is unprecedented. And then, when you think it can’t get any worse, you sleep one night and wake up the next morning to realize that things have gotten a whole lot worse!

Within the space of a few hours, prices can change, an important commodity can become scarce and even life as a whole can come to a standstill. It is sad really, the atmosphere here is really tense. No one knows what the future holds, everything is like the crypto market, it goes up and goes down like a roller-coaster of confusion.

And while we all are trying to keep our sanity in this corruption-ridden clime, everyone else seems to be thriving off losing their minds. People are still attacking banks, setting them on fire, and chasing bankers off premises. There are those that are attacking police stations and those that are attacking filling stations. The people are just like the government, taking the wrong approach to solving pressing issues.

For the life of me, I don’t see the benefit of putting us through all this mess unless there is an ulterior motive. In the same way, it doesn’t make sense for people to burn banks when in the end, they will need the same banks to collect money. Everything is crazy, we all are crazy. I am coming to believe that you have to be a bit crazy for you to survive in this country. If you don’t have some screws loose, there are people who will put you through the wringer, chew you and spit you out without batting an eye.

Finally, it is time to change the status quo. This is the first time that the majority of Nigerians are standing together with a united front and saying, “enough is enough!” It is about time we stamp our foot on the ground and let them know that we are sick and tired of all the rubbish they have been putting us through.

I am tired, my dear friend. And my tired is tired as well.

How long can we go on like this? How long can one survive with such uncertainty looming over their heads day in and day out? Are we going to have to endure another eight years of such tyranny?

Hell no! I don’t think we will survive even another year of this. It is too much, and if we keep lying to ourselves, we all will be the ones to suffer for it.

So, when D-Day comes, do not let anything stop you. Go out there and cast your votes. Do not allow your judgment to be clouded by religion, tribe, and other forms of bias. Vote for competency and vote for accountability. Nigeria currently is not a happy place, but together you and I can use our votes to make it the happiest country in the world.

And it all begins with your vote! Make sure you vote!
