The Steem ecosystem has expanded by leaps and bounds in 2018. Sometimes its hard to keep track at the developments as they roll in as there's just so many services and websites operating on the robust blockchain these days! The topic of today's @btuniverse article is a new and exciting digital asset game that has taken the Steem world by storm. Yes, I'm sure you've already caught on by now, I'm talking about Steem Monsters and there's a lot to it in fact. 

So what exactly is Steem Monsters and what makes it so impressive?

According to their [Kickstarter campaign](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/526764488/steem-monsters-a-digital-role-playing-trading-card) Steem Monsters has been described as:

> A thoughtful strategy and resource management game built on blockchain technology.  We're bringing back the fun you had playing collectible card games as a kid, but now with the benefit of the internet. Maybe you're just starting, and we couldn't be more excited to have you join this community!

So what we are looking at is the evolution of collectible card games sitting on top of a world class blockchain assuring your cards are digital assets owned by you and easily verified through the public database. Pretty cool right? 

This was a much needed change from the current state of gaming as presented by Steem Monsters: 

>We played Magic and Pokemon and all those card games too.  We didn't like when the games went digital we no longer owned cards, nor could we trade them.  Blizzard and Wizard owned our stuff.  NOT US!

That may give you a bit of an idea about the game and what its about. Essentially your cards have many features and one of the most important being the ability to summon monsters and have them battle other monsters in the pursuit of victory and conquest!

The game is certainly taking the world by storm and its popularity is increasing daily. 

When people talk about blockchain's needing usecases, this is exactly what they mean. It is our belief that Steem has only begun its quest to provide value to the world and momentum will be picking up through the rest of 2018. There's no doubt that Steem Monsters is loads of fun and there's still time to load up on cards before they are all sold out. Get out there and get involved and spread the word, Steem is taking over the world!
