0.000 HBDREVIEW: Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021): Plenty of carnage in this one.

Interesting concept. I wonder how it turns out?

The sequel to Venom comes out co-written by the main star Tom Hardy along with Kelly Marcel. Directed by Andy Serkis, you remember Gollum from Lord of the Rings? Yep, it's him. Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is back at it again with Venom, the alien symbiote attached to himself. This time we meet Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) who will soon become Carnage. There's not much to say about the plot here. Kasady is able to literally bite off a piece of the symbiote and transforms himself into the hulking red colored Carnage. Battles ensue, jokes too until we set up the next film. One of the side characters, the girlfriend of Kasady has the ability to scream very loud and that's the main weakness of the symbiote. She comes in handy at certain key moments to strip the symbiote away from the host.

Venom doing his thing. Reminds me of Beetlejuice for some reason.

The buddy comedy continues with the symbiote shooting out of Brock's body to talk and often berate him. There are some fun moments as Brock appears to be a crazy person. Talking to himself while others around him think he's nuts. These moments work. Once we get into the big battles my mind tunes out and all the commotion happens on screen. I like the Brock/Symbiote bond as that's the main attraction to the series. Carnage and his side-story with his girlfriend is required but forgettable. All I know about him is he's a serial killer and has a love affair with this shrieking woman. I wasn't invested in either and they're here to progress the plot.

Carnage lives up to his name and provides plenty of it.

I did read the original comics at one point in time and know the name Carnage but I don't really remember much. The previous entry, Venom did not enthuse me either. The jokes are ramped up to 11 here and some hit while others missed often.

Eddie Brock aka Tom Hardy thinking deep thoughts.

This was another film that was a casualty of the pandemic and was pushed back for almost a year though it did have a theatrical release. A passable film that's nothing special. The jokey attitude of Brock and Venom will either work or not for people. I must commend them on trying to do something different with more humor in it. There's not much to say but if you're into the new Spider-Man universe it's an entry.

I'm the real draw says Venom. You sure are in this outing.

Until the inevitable third film makes an appearance along with a new character introduction. Thanks for the read ๐ All media captured by myself from the original source.
