Extending a handshake to someone older is a sign of disrespect
<div class="text-justify">

Humans easily adapt to things, and it is hard to let go of things we are already used to. Until now, I always make sure that I finish the food I am eating before I touch the meat. I was never told or taught to behave this way; it just happened. I think the reason is that whenever my mum gives me food, there is only one piece of meat, and I always like to taste that after consuming the meal served.

*The first time I saw my peer buy food from a foodseller and he bought two meat, It surprised me because I had never been given or eaten two meat at once and it further amazed me when he ate the meat first before touching the rice...*

*Last month, I was hungry so I decided to branch at a local eatery in the school to get something to eat, I bought jollof, moimoi, plantain, and egg... As usual, I made sure to finish the others before touching the egg and I noticed a girl was staring at me, I guess she was wondering why I saved the egg for the last or maybe she also practiced such a habit and was happy she saw someone like her I can't tell lol.*

*Another Habit I find hard to stop is bowing when I am shaking someone older than me, If the person who extends his hand to me is older than me or I feel he is old enough to be my brother, I will bow my head when shaking them, the same thing happened to me in the gym that I am going...*

*I notice that most of them greet one another with a handshake or knocking hands, no bow or any kind of respect but I find it hard to do it, especially for the gym instructor, whenever he comes to shake me, I will bow my head a little as a sign of respect and this is because I respect my teachers and bosses a lot, so since he is my instructor, he automatically earn that respect but when I realize others don't bow or such like that, I tried to stop it as well but it is just not happening, cos I am already used to it.*

*One thing my parent taught me was never to extend my hands for a handshake to an elder, it is seen as disrespect so this stuck to my brain and till now I never extend my hand first to someone older than me, it is okay to shake them if they extend their hand but that I must also do it with respect and that is why I bow along with the handshake.*
