Arbusto originario de Sudamérica, en España es usado como seto ornamental. 

Lo negativo de este arbusto es que no es autóctono y puede llegar a ser invasivo e incluso sobrevivir a incendios, lo positivo es que nos brinda de preciosas flores en casi todas las épocas del año, y además sus flores perfumadas atraen las abejas.
