My Own Lyrics Challenge is going through the years to spotlight cool songs and this post is for 1982. “Shake It Up” was one of the biggest hits for the group The Cars, and rose to number 4 on the Billboard charts upon release. It ended up to be number 23 for the year and has been covered by other artists since then.


The video for Shake It Up by The Cars mixes scenes of driving in Los Angeles, club scenes and some skits of people “shaking it up.” It’s a silly video, to go along with the light-hearted song lyrics.
