Dark, grey, murky, moody and windy - that's been the week and my mood to be honest. Yes another #sublimesunday on another day - it seems my life transpires to find new and interesting ways to prevent me getting anything useful done - and in the little free time I have outside work I'm so knackered I don't feel like doing anything except grabbing some sleep before the next days horrific onslaught.

Last weekend was quite nondescript finishing up painting the bedroom on the Saturday and a bit of shopping and sorting things out for my Dad on the Sunday.

The weather has been very autumnal, not like this photo of The Piece Hall Deli a few weeks back - windy and overcast most of the time. And what really crippled my week before it started was arriving at work 8am Monday morning to discover the office window had a massive hole where the glass used to be in it - over the weekend someone had smashed the window - but somehow a quick look around the office revealed they had not trashed the place or stolen any of the computers and screens - which is bit amazing because across from that window is my desk with two Apple 22" Cinema Displays and a Mac Pro that drives them - you might struggle wandering around with the Cinema Displays but the "Trash Can" Mac Pro is slightly more portable. I'm not going to complain that the offending break and enterer didn't take any of my tech, in fact it on a quick check around it was hard to tell if they had taken anything at all - or just smashed the window.

Reviewing my CCTV which just happens to have a camera pointing down the alley where the window was smashed - it seems the windows were considerably less substantial then I had thought - after scratching at a corner with some unknown tool to weaken it - a mere traffic cone jabbed at that corner is all that was needed to completely shatter the whole massive double glazed window pane - and it's modern fitted toughend double glazing we only had it fitted in 2016.

The CCTV did also show he did indeed "get in" and checking the desk draws I realised the Petty Cash tin which should have had £250 in it was empty - basically he broke in for cash - found it and legged it quick happy with his pay off for what was 8 minutes of effort. So bitter sweet no tech taken, office not wrecked other then my spending an hour sweeping up all the broken glass - it breaks into those little cubes that just get everywhere and it was a massive window pane so there was loads and loads of glass. Plus then I had to cover the hole - finding boarding from around the warehouse that would be big enough to cover the gap and make it secure so no more tea leafs could get in.

After cleaning up and making secure, plus trying to get the work done that was most essential on what is generally the busiest day of the week - it then came to reporting the crime to the Police. They are at least on the modern day digital trip, knowing that ringing 999 is something you should only do in a life or death emergency I googled the non-emergency number - and found that they actually now allow you to file a crime report online - much more convenient then spending an hour waiting to talk to someone to tell them you have a hole in your office where glass used to be. Filled that out and got a reply in half an hour - again much faster then waiting on the phone. Crime number and request for CCTV stills plus an special e-mail address to send the full video to - 10 minutes in total as the offender wanders up and down quite a bit presumably while people walk past on the street - plus the 3 minutes inside. Unlucky for him he chose to break in during daylight with perfect CCTV conditions - and plainly did not realise there was a camera even though he looks directly at it twice - so two perfect face grabs for the Police which they have issued to the on street force to keep an eye out for him. If spotted they will prosecute as there is clear video evidence - I won't get what was stolen back - or the cost of replacing the window and fitting cage wire over it to prevent future attempts - but the Police are keen to prevent future crimes and I am keen to help prevent someone else walking into a Monday Morning Nightmare.

Boarded up window - I boarded it from the inside and outside - there were two glass panes the right hand one now has metal grid over on the outside to stop anyone else trying to break it - when the new pane arrives the whole opening will be covered with wire mesh and the glass is going to be laminate toughend which doesn't break as easily. Plus new additional security camera - another one that gives me notifications on movement - I'm going all out on future security -  every possible opening that doesn't already have wire mesh over it and a camera covering will have.

Rubbish weather and annoying break ins - and that's before I even start on everything else that has been going on - problems all round and so many things to do it's head spinning.

I'm going to miss the weekends at the lakes and parks with my boy, the weather is unlikely to make those day trips favourable until March.

So that's been my week, I'm sure many many people have had worse to deal with then I have - but you know I like to moan a lot - especially about the windy wet weather because it's the British thing to do lol.
