If you want to help scientists, companies and ordinary people by providing your computation power and help them run various calculations and earn cryptocurrency along then Gridcoin might be of an interest to you. Gridcoin achieves this by attaching itself to BOINC - Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing.



BOINC was built to be an open-source system that supports volunteers and grid computing all around the world. The aim of BOINC is to enable researchers to use the massive processing power of various personal computers and devices. As BOINC is based on voluntarily level which tells us that its users are giving their resources for free, that’s where Gridcoin steps in. Gridcoin has its own blockchain that is pure POS and on the other side it enables people to contribute their processing power to BOINC and as a reward, they get to earn Gridcoin in return.



If you feel like helping researchers, scientists and other people to cure cancer, do various calculations about astronomy, finding new diseases and other similar, but yet important things then understanding BOINC and Gridcoin will surely be of a big importance to you. Even if you don’t have some supercomputer, you can even plug in your old mobile phone or any similar device and start to contribute processing power. Or if you are a developer you could help out within Gridcoin and receive some reward in the end, or even come and join the lovely Gridcoin community.
