Good morning Splinterfriends! </center> I hope you're all having a wonderful day so far! I was... right up until I discovered a stupid (albeit minor) issue... I'd love to be all dramatic and flail about, claiming "Woe is me!!" this is like a digital kick in the balls!!!! </center> Honestly though, it's more of a minor irritation... like the digital version of stubbing your toe... </center> <center>LMAOOOOOOO</center> </center> Anyways... enough of me being melodramatic... lets get to the issue at hand! ___ Ok... so check this out... I rented a max level Yodin Zaku from @jregid via Peakmonsters.  I was checking on some things on Peakmonsters this morning and I saw something that caused me to stop everything and be all "say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?"...  That little Green "i" caught my attention... I was like hold up... HOOOOOOOOLD TF UP!! <center>***Why is this card turned off for Survival Mode?!?!***</center> Or better yet... HOW????? I thought all Rented cards were usable in Survival mode! The issue isn't that this Yodin is not usable in Survival Mode - yeah, that SUCKS... but that's not the problem... The PROBLEM, is that no where at any point did *anything* give **ANY INDICATION**... ***THAT IT WASN'T USABLE IN SURVIVAL MODE.*** 😡 ___  <center>No indications here...</center>  <center>None here either...</center> Ok... so maybe... it was a glitch with the 12 BCX??? The Discord user Quasar thought (as did I) that *any* season Rental was usable in Survival... so... let's go test that! ___ <center>**Test... test... I get this message... </center> Ok... That's good... That's cool... </center> At least I can't dick someone over by Renting them a card and then being all "HAHA F#$% YOU BUDDY!!!" and disabling it for Survival lol That would be such a God Tier troll... jfc I am glad that's not the case... nothing malicious going on 😁🙏 Ok... but what if I list a card... and BEFORE it is Rented by someone... I click the button to turn off Survival Mode eligibility... Fortunately for me... I have a SECOND GF L2 Meriput Mossmender for rent!! This makes it very easy to compare!  <center>**Shameless Plug**: My Mossmender is 7.5 DEC/d... the next cheapest one... is 15 DEC/d!!</center> Ok... well it is for rent... but not rented yet... let me try and turn off Survival Mode...  Nope... still can't deactivate Survival Mode... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Perhaps, like Ockham's Razor, the "Simplest Explanation" is often the best... 🤔  <center>Oh look... you can turn off Survival Mode and then list the card for Rent... Simple = Best!</center> Alright... so now we figured out that we can TURN OFF SURVIVAL MODE AND LIST CARDS FOR RENT... Does it let us know this anywhere!?!? BECAUSE THAT'S KIND OF IMPORTANT!! </center> Let me just switch over to an alt real quick... and I will look at my Mossmender on the Rental Markets!  <center>...</center> </center> Let me check the "In-Game" Rental Market... Maybe it is listed there...  </center> <center>Nope. 😡</center> ___ <center>**Conclusion**</center> It appears there is a flaw in the Rental System in the current format... Since we have elected to use SEASON ONLY RENTALS - which I actually LIKE and yes... I WAS WRONG ABOUT at first... If I am going to spend 1 DEC/Day... let alone 200+ DEC/Day... for 16 Days... before I spend 3,200 DEC... I... and ALL PLAYERS... Should at the VERY LEAST be aware that we CAN'T USE THE CARD IN SURVIVAL MODE. I just wasted 3,200 DEC on a Yodin because I can't use it in Survival... So... Thanks a lot @jregid... you have given me the digital equivalent of this: </center> </center> Whether it was intentional or not is beside the point - had I been able to see that this Yodin was ***DISABLED*** for Survival... I would have NEVER rented it. Ok... so we have identified the issue: "Cards can be listed for Rent with Survival Mode *disabled* and the players renting the cards do not see this and cannot filter this, before they Rent the card." ___ <center>**Solutions**:</center> Make no mistake, this is a *MAJOR* and *FUNDAMENTAL* flaw in the Rental System. In fact... I think it's pretty UNfundamental... because... you know... it takes the fun out of it... I'll see myself out... </center> Anyways... puns aside... this is an extreme "Lack Of Transparency". It will undermine confidence in the Rental System because Players currently have no way to tell if a card they are about to Rent... will be usable for one of the THREE Ranked Battle Modes... and in the case of Yodin... One of the TWO Ranked Battle Modes: Wild & Survival. While I do believe that having the option to use a card for Survival is the Owners choice... and I saw somewhere in Discord... some time ago... a discussion about this... but don't remember the outcome... When a card is listed for rent... the potential Rent*er* needs to know what they CAN and CAN'T do with said Card... Imagine you Rent a Card to work on your Plot... and you got a message "This Card is *INELIGIBLE* to work on Land"... </center> Same thing here... but fortunately, your trusty friend and fearless... err well... Shameless, at the very least... Captaindingus... comes to you not only with complaints... but with SOLUTIONS as well... 1. ***MAKE IT KNOWN YOU CAN'T USE THE DAMN CARD IN SURVIVAL*** (prob easiest to put an icon) 2. Make a filter in the Rental Market & Peakmonsters Market to filter out SM Disabled Cards 3. Make cards listed for Rent Available for EVERYTHING, despite what conditions the Owner has put on them... Three is probably the hardest to code... I dunno? But I think it would be the most useful... Imagine if the Card Owner didn't want to play Survival so they had Survival Mode Disabled... but after spending their Energy and playing a Brawl they decided to list their Yodin for Rent... If they Disabled Survival Mode, let their Bot yeet their collection at Wild, Brawl and then Survival... but wanted to Rent out their Yodin after... Then they could do that... and the potential Renter would then be able to play the Yodin as they see fit... win-win. Either way... before choosing a card to Rent, we NEED to: A. BE ABLE TO SEE/FILTER IF A CARD HAS SURVIVAL DISABLED or B. ALL RENTALS BECOME AVAILABLE FOR ALL MODES There are ZERO exceptions to this... or it destroys transparency in the Rental Market and will cause MAJOR trust issues... I mean... I am very, *VERY* fortunate in the aspect that wasting this 3,200 DEC is an *annoyance* to me... For other Players, around the world... that could be 10x their entire Rental budget for a Season! That would be *DEVASTATING* to them... imagine the frustration and heartache they would feel... that pit in your stomach... the gamut of emotion from frustration to anger to disappointment and ultimately to resentment... and you know what comes after that... </center> Ok... maybe not that... but I bet "F#$% this game, I quit" is on their mind... ___ <center>**The Ask**:</center> Could someone from the Splinterlands Team and/or Peakmonsters please update the GUI to show whether or not the Cards for Rent are available for Survival... or please add a filter... to ensure no one else ends up disappointed like this. @jarvie, @asgarth - you guys know how much I appreciate and support @peakmonsters 🙏😍🙏 if you could peek at this and look into a solution, whatever it may be...
