If you are a math/physics nerd you came to the right place. I have flown these wings, now I want to look at why they fly differently. # Every pilot I talked to told me I was going to see a dramatic difference in the new wing. # The truth is, there is only a couple of noticeable differences between the two wings. # Lets take a closer look! Old Paraglider wing (ozone vibe) | New Paraglider wing (rook 2) --------------------------------------------|---------------------- This wing was made in 2002 | This wing was made in 2015 Original cost $2,750.00 USD | Original Cost $3,400.00 Area/Surface 25.84 m2 | Area/Surface 26.05 m2 Span 11.40 | Span 12.05 Ratio 5.03 | Ratio 5.57 Wing weight 6.0 kg | Wing weight 5.6 kg Box-Cell-Closed 25/44/+D/06 | Box-Cell-Closed 27/57+D/08 Risers 4 (3A+1A' /5B/4C) | Risers 4 (2A+1A'/4B/3C) NAKED PILOT WEIGHT 62/72 kg | NAKED PILOT WEIGHT 62/82 kg In flight weigh 80/90 kg | In flight weigh 80/100 kg Flight w/speed bar 50 km/h | Flight w/speed bar 53 km/h Flight w/o input 37 km/h | Flight w/o input 39 km/h Flight minimum 22 km/h | Flight minimum 24 km/h [New wing website](http://777gliders.com/tripleseven/rook) [Old wing website](http://para2000.org/wings/ozone/vibe.html) # What is the big difference? Chances are, I just don't have enough air time to see a dramatic difference. At this point I have exactly ```97 flights, and 20 hours``` of air time. But I will say, I love this wing! I have had numbers of pilots tell me: > Watch out, you are moving up to a high B. This wing is going to be much more demanding than your old one. You need to be careful because this wing is much different. And I get it, I am making a move up to a wing that is made with new technology. It is going to be less prone to collapse. This wing has the shark nose technology. The material is better. The risers are lighter and more durable. I am sure that the new wing is safer than my old wing by large margin. > If you are going to make the jump, you have better have the skill, because it might cost you. After putting about 4 hours on this new wing I have come to the conclusion that there are only two differences: * The wing surges forward into the thermals. *Its like a thermal finder!* * It flies faster, and has a better glide ratio. Well that is all for now. Hope you enjoy.
