Forest ablaze. Inferno devouring.
A tsunami of flames swiftly advancing,
Washes over trees and bushes.
Behind, it leaves a wasteland,
A plain devoid of life.

A seed lies in prison.
The furnace melts its chains.
It sinks below the earth,
To spring to life tomorrow.

A forest grows again.

*Entry to the #fiftywords challenge. Topic was "forest." Debated which direction to go (messed around with a snail traveling through a dandelion field) but eventually came up with this story/poem thingy. It's based of the trees that hold there seeds encased in resin that must be melted before the seed can grow. The trees need forest fires to survive. Pretty neat, huh?*
