#### This is a painting that I just finished working on after getting back on track from 5 months of abandonment.
In the summer 2017, I wanted to draw a character - a girl with some kind of weapon. 
So I grabbed my iPad and started sketching.
However, I did not think about who she is , where she came from, what kind of outfit does she wear... etc. 
#### So I quickly lost interest because it wasn't getting anywhere. 


`무려 2017년 여름에 시작했다가 최근에서야 끝난 그림입니다. `
`뭔가 무기를 든 모에모에한 아가씨를 그리고 싶었는데 컨셉 잡기가 힘들더군요. `
`특히 옷 디자인에서 많이 힘들었었지요.`
`자꾸 그리면 그릴수록 FATE의 세이버 복장이 되어버려서(...)`
 `엎고 다시 그리고 엎고 다시 그리고를 반복하다가 `
`나중에 결국은 그냥 그만둬 버렸었습니다. `



I don't mind taking a long time to paint as long as I know what I am doing. But this one, I definitely didn't know what I was doing... So I kept drawing and erasing ^_^;;
It wasn't a surprise when I found that the exported video footage from Procreate was more than 11 minutes total.

#### This is one of the early stage of sketches that I made. 
I wanted her to be standing on the ground surrounded by bunch of dead bodies wearing west-influenced outfit from a random fantasy world. And maybe a dragon in the sky killing people. 


`초창기 스케치입니다. 뭔가 많이 어지럽네요. `

I think this is where I lost my interest in the making of this painting because I simply did not like the direction it was going towards. 
It felt like the composition was too busy and most importantly... I didn't  like the design of her clothing.

`이럴땐 기억해야 합니다.`

Then, I decided to give it a twist by drawing something I haven't done before - draw ***Ancient Chinese dress!***
So, I collected references. 


`그림 그리는 사람 (저)의 흥미를 다시 유발하기 위해서, 옷을 중국 전통 복장으로 바꿔봅시다. `

I thought these dresses from Tang Dynasty were VERY pretty! and the elegant flow of the dress, revealing the contour of the body was mind-blowing. Also, it matched an axe she was going to hold... It's all about the contrast! 
It was exciting moment because I knew I was actually going to finish this painting...  FINALLY. Yes! After 5 months! 


`굉장히 화려합니다. 저런 화려한 옷에 도끼라면 그다지 어울리지 않을거 같습니다. `
`하지만 제가 그리는 소녀는 '잔다르크'같은 느낌으로,`
` 화려함과는 거리가 멀기 때문에!! 그냥 전체적인 실루엣만 참고합시다. `

But still, I kept making modifications. 😂😂😂😂😂
At this point, here dress was short. It's nonetheless cute, but NOT what I was aiming for. 


`아직도 정신 못차리고 그림을 고치는 중입니다.`
`치마가 아직도 짧군요`
`짧은 치마에 대한 저의 집착... 과연 버릴수 있을까?! `
`그리고 무엇보다 이딴식으로 해서 과연 끝낼수 있을까?!`
`이 때까지만 해도 복식이 중국보다는 한국풍이군요. `

I wasn't fond of the greenish tone, so I changed it to cooler tone by adding blue overlay layer on top.

Her armor and gauntlet are influenced by Kendo protecting gears.

The final product. 
I struggled a lot with her ***shoes***😂
First, I wanted it to match her axe so I drew in boots, but it didn't look right with her dress because the boots were too bulky.
Well,  I can keep complaining forever, but it will be a lot easier for you readers to just watch the youtube to see what I mean. 


`신발 그리기가 상당히 힘들었는데요.`
`일단 도끼랑 매칭하려고 부츠를 그렸으나,,`
`샤랄라한 드레스에 전혀 어울리지 않더군요.` 
`그래서 다시 신발을 고치고..또 고치고...`

#### Conclusion: I am quite happy with the result. I want to continue to draw more characters that matches this style and concept, so that the collection of the drawings become a whole visual development in the future.
