SURROGACY // ANOTHER VIABLE OPTION

I am usually not one to have and/or share opinions on topics as this one cause I generally don't see, from viewing the two(even more) sides of the topic and reading or listening g to other people's opinion on it, a clear ground.

People have very strong varying opinions on this topic, and so far, as much as quite a number of them seem to contradict the other, every person's opinion seems logical.

Before I understood things as I do now especially on surrogacy, it puzzled me if it was an ethical practice as back then, the stories and issues were largely of child birth for commercial purpose and young people(girls) who only cared so much for the money.

Now, I do believe that every person who cares and can afford to cater to a child should have one. Quite unfortunately,  not every female is able to give birth themselves, and some factors could contribute to that. Factors ranging from inability to conceive and give birth due to age, health complications, PTSD from previous birth experience(s), lifestyle choice, same-sex relationships, single parenting, medical reasons or other personal reasons.

With advancing technology, there's been the discoveries  and invent of other ways to give birth to tackle a person's situation.

Surrogacy, amongst others, has been proven to be a viable option. Surrogacy is simply a practice that a lady accepts to carry to term and birth a child for a person/couple. It involves quite some finance and legal work to make it just ethical by aiding and taking responsibility for the needs of the surrogate mother(as was agreed) inorder that during the time, she's comfortable and healthy and also to avoid whatever complexities that may arise for one reason or another respectively.

A good thing in this present day is that the meaning of a surrogacy mother has somewhat changed throughout the history of surrogacy itself. With new modern technology, this concept has its
own standard. Not so long time ago, a surrogate mother used to be a person who would carry a baby for a family with her genetics along with the genetics of the intended father. This has changed
nowadays. With the introduction of ART as well as progressing of IVF, a surrogate mother has just become a carrier whose expenses are paid and who receives a basic compensation plus reimbursement for her pregnancy in which she carries a baby with the genes of both intended mother and father. Which is great.

And oh, if I was ever in a position where surrogacy was the only viable option available to me, I'd do it. I'd do it, making sure to follow due process.
The goal, after all, is to get a child. Right now, I'm not certain if I'd be willing to take up being a surrogate. I haven't thought about being one.

Times have evolved. We're lucky to have a lot of things easier. The traditional method of childbearing while it was/is still viable and serves a good number of women is still not all encompassing going by the different issues that plague each woman. While we uphold it, the best we can do for all our good is to accept and adopt surrogacy cause it's here to stay.
