Remember When DVD Commentry Was A Thing?
For a brief moment right after we left the safety of VHS and moved into digital and before the internet cannibalised everything was the DVD. A disk that that was 4.5GB big and you needed a special machine called a DVD player to watch it

Instead of your movie collection being an endless selection of movies with instant access on your favourite streaming site or files hard drive. Since you couldn't simply enjoy unlimited access you would have to enjoy the movies you had by watching them again or better yet watching it again with the DVD commentary on.

The information you would now get from Wikipedia, specific wikis or IMDB trivia would be read over each scene lol this was a guilty pleasure of many a movie nerd.

## I don't drop character until the DVD commentary

The art form was kinda weird for many and was a running joke for years, yet people continued to include them in their DVD packages as added extras to entice you to buy a disk.

## If you were born yesterday

If you're like 5 years old and not sure what I'm talking about here are a few examples of what I mean.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/QVJPNua1Mhw" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So according to the [AV Club](https://news.avclub.com/read-this-the-declining-art-of-the-dvd-commentary-trac-1798258227) this is a dying art and yes that's a no brainer, with so much content around content how could you think this could survive. The moment a movie comes out there's like a zillion YouTube reactions starting from the trailer, the movie, then the post-credit scenes, users are analysing every bit of content and giving their opinion and the internet loves it.

They love it more than the actual actors giving their opinion on the movie or scenes. For some reason, user opinions have become more popular than actor interviews and DVD commentary posted online.

## Possible opportunity?

Ok so now the actual point of my post, I wonder if there are enough people interested in DVD commentary to launch a separate or additional service to allow users to watch movies with the commentary on. What do you think?

If theres anything I've learned is that people are willing to pay and spend their time on the strangest things on the internet so why not this?
