Hello steemians! I'm Christopher Lyr or @chrislyr. A 28 year old half-canadian, half-filipino currently  living and working in Manila. I'm happily married and my wife just gave birth to a healthy baby girl 3 months ago.

I've heard of Steemit from an office mate just 2 weeks ago and heard a lot of good things about this platform - the guy said you can earn by blogging here. Out of curiousity I registered almost week ago but my account just got approved today - first time I've seen a social media that takes too long to approved an account. 

I don't have special skills or the likes but I do like to compose poems, especially haiku. What? Surprised to see a guy as big me compose a poem? My hobby is playing basketball, video games, and poetry. I also like to read novels and have just recently develop a strong interest in cryptocurrency - hence I'm here. 

The other reason I'm here because of what Facebook did its users data. Most of you probably know what I meant. Another reason would be because my office mate mentioned that unlike Facebook I can actually earn something here and I've got to admit after lurking for almost a week here I did saw some post with pretty exaggerated earnings. Which makes me kind of pump-up but I'm a realistic guy and I know I won't be earning those in a very long time.

So did my frankness turn off my would be followers? Well I'm a pretty practical guy and  money is a great incentitive to join. Those who are saying otherwise are just being hypocrites. 

Also, despite the fact that I am new I did a bit of research on the platform and learned a bit. Nonetheless, I'm still a newbie and I welcome any help I could get. So give me those follows and upvotes, lmao. 

Anyways, I will do my best to not contribute to the spams. And, of course I'm glad to be finally here.
