I was talking to the muse earlier and discussing the concept of letting go and I thought I'd share my thoughts as they always seem to reshape and mold differently over time.  Letting go is probably the most vague and fundamentally important concept that I can imagine philosophically.  How do I let go?  Let go of what?  The simple answer would be everything that you're afraid to lose, but that doesn't really help with the "how" aspect very much.

Often, I find myself contemplating simpler ways to express my interpretation of many teachings and relating them to my own ideas, and this one is no different.  It was in thinking about why I do this and why I write poetry or anything else I do that a very simple answer came to me.  What do I suggest letting go of?  Anything you don't actually want.  No excuses as to why you can't, no justifying it, and no being afraid of what happens next.  It's simple really, if we let go of everything we don't want and are mindful of that, the only things that could possibly be left over are the things we do want.

I can't tell anyone it's easy or that they can't come up with better excuses to justify doing things that they don't want to do than I can reasons why they shouldn't.  The truth I've found is that we all have to make that decision for ourselves and perhaps that's what all philosophy is really about in the end, simply showing people that there are other ways and allowing them to choose them for themselves or reject them accordingly.  I don't think there's any one size fits all solution to life and anyone that tries to tell anyone else there is one is probably trying to charge them astronomical amounts of money, but I do believe we all have the power to figure out what works for us.
