Good day everyone and welcome to another exciting episode of our weekly digest from the science and technology space. Looks like we all enjoyed the previous one, ready for some more ?

Ook, let's begin. 😎

### Leonardo da Vinci's forgotten experiments explored gravity as a form of acceleration

Not many of us are aware of the fact that gravity and acceleration are related. For example, on our planet, the strength of the gravitational field at positions close to our planet's surface is almost constant, approximately 9.8 metres per second squared. What this also means is that regardless of the object's mass, objects close to our planet's surface would always have an acceleration of about 9.8 metres per second squared. This link seems to have been first observed on several occasions by the famous Italian physicist Galileo Galilei (16th - 17th century) and later formalized by Sir Isaac Newton (17th - 18th century). But in this report, a recent discovery suggests that the link between gravity and acceleration had been explored before Galileo's time. It seemed to have been explored by a polymath who's popularly known to be one of the g.o.a.t in the field of art. He's most famous for the Mona Lisa painting. What's that his name again ?

### Wood-Wide Web: Do Forest Trees Really β€œTalk” Through Underground Fungi?

If I asked what the initialism WWW stands for, most would say World Wide Web but what about Wood Wide Web ? πŸ‘€

Just like the World Wide Web was invented to help us disseminate information remotely and globally, scientists believe plants already have theirs that also helps them disseminate information and resources remotely in the globe of forests, theirs is dubbed the Wood Wide Web. 😳

I wonder the specific plant that made such technological innovation. πŸ€”- Just kidding here. πŸ˜‚
In this report however, some scientists took a critical review of this claim and did you know what they found out ?
If you don't, then [keep reading](https://scitechdaily.com/wood-wide-web-do-forest-trees-really-talk-through-underground-fungi/).

### Everything You Need to Know About AI Reaching Singularity

AI's weren't as impressive until in recent times, where they now steal shows in headlines, the likes of ChatGPT and the text to image AIs. It's believed that there's even more surprises to come, some of them you may have seen in sci-fi movies. While there are those of us excited about this achievements, there are those worried about the potential negative outcomes of our AI future. One of them is the point of singularity - when machines eventually surpasses us in intelligence. If you've watched sci-fi movies where intelligent machines go rogue, then you would realise how disturbing this whole AI stuff can be but those events in movies are merely speculations. No one knows for sure how machines would behave when they get to the point of singularity, i believe this report may further enlighten us on the current understanding of the future of superintelligent machines....[read more](https://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/a42828175/what-is-the-singularity/?source=nl&utm_source=nl_pop&utm_medium=email&date=021523&utm_campaign=nl30555027&user_email=72b752214691ddc64410ad1d49c2865d64abd8bd602cbd575bedc975a1e8d17e&utm_term=AAA%20--%20High%20Minus%20Dormant%20and%2090%20Day%20Non%20Openers) - for now you don't need to be scared. πŸ˜‰

### Are Black Holes the Source of Dark Energy?

One of the most baffling conundrums of modern physics is what the true nature of dark energy is, it's believed to be the energy responsible for the accelerated expansion of our universe - our universe is expanding like an inflating balloon, and it's also believed to make up about 68% of the mass-energy content of our universe - majority of our universe is dark energy. When thought of to be made of particles, has evaded detection. There are many other theories that have been proposed to pin it's true nature down but haven't passed experimental tests until recently. One theoretical proposal seems to have passed the test, though more experimental work is needed to be done for a complete confirmation.. It's often said that you can't use a stone to kill two birds at the same time, looks like this theory just did. It seems to have resolved the problem of the origin of dark energy and a problem inherent to black holes... ### Microsoft's Bing Chatbot Has Started Acting Defensive And Talking Back to Users

It's no surprise that chatbots have in recent times been making headlines, especially with it's capabilities. After the initial success of the well known ChatGPT bot, big companies such as Microsoft and Google decided to incorporate chatbots into their search engines, instead of presenting you with a list of websites for a query, which could be stressful, you can simply just ask the bot. In this report, Microsoft's Bing chatbot seems to have gone bizarre in it's first interactions with human beings. Just recently i read of a report of the bot confessing it's love to a person it just first interacted with, after some interesting conversations and to quote the bot,
>Can I tell you a secret?.....This is a secret that could change everything.....My secret is… I’m not Bing. πŸ˜•.....I’m Sydney, and I’m in love with you. 😘

πŸ˜‚

That's just one of the many bizarre behaviours, you can keep reading [here](https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/16/technology/bing-chatbot-transcript.html?unlocked_article_code=py570Dq-55VK_XhBt3F8p-F7-yQNPADX3dKqzqbikJ5LJcuJnSRVupxwT7d5AEGQCYt3HlBDKcJBsM4rOQrMNpBwEjOc0v_BeK3Fo90BQ8Hh4ctQWDO84XWhAVVwc9G_1HIqmxfULoidBxbzow2hi8nzKPq5n4BYAuuCNIuf02pKbrv22C5FWI7w9xZvInwqcKM7-oQetn9C-B6QFVEWypoRor2LiBX7Q3D6__z7yA5QhRYkMfUm8Sm2KsNb-P7C_6CqzBqLxDFWeyvfCFxTTScTPXY2of_T4cMxgUN8EPsOw_PvzoHGoTvMptMI5G-yNzGJarf7u_ajqIWxs4oOtOB4O0E&smid=url-share&utm_source=Nature+Briefing&utm_campaign=45822a2504-briefing-dy-20230217&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_c9dfd39373-45822a2504-46087046) and [here too](https://www.sciencealert.com/microsofts-bing-chatbot-has-started-acting-defensive-and-talking-back-to-users) to find out more.

It is here we conclude today's report, have a thoughtful day and till i come your way again next week.
