Hello, there! Surprise! I’m here!

Hello, there Hivers! Discovering Hive is a surprise to me. I was just added in a group chat by one of my colleagues and right there I was included in Hive Onboarding through Google meet. It was a surprise to me since it is new to me, blogging. Thanks to @indayclara , @intoy.bugoy , and @annetimistic for introducing this platform to me. Running through it, I am excited to discover and learn more about the lives of other people and how I can relate to them. Learning on the various tourist spots in and out of the country, techniques, and methods on cooking varieties of food and indulging the culture from other regions. People striving and reaching their success as what life makes it! ---

Knowing me, Clitaclitz!

Hi, I am Clita! You can also me Clitz, in any of the two you are comfortable with. I have been teaching for almost 11 years. I taught in a private school for 3 years handling Science subject. Then, I transferred to public school, Department of Education, which I am currently teaching. *My advisory class is grade three and I was teaching to them the Science subject at this time ‘coz I love everything about Science.* ---

How I become a teacher?

Growing up in a family striving to survive each day was so hard. We just rented a 20 square meter- land. My parents just built the house out of scrap, sack of rice and wood left by our neighbors. There was a time when a strong typhoon struck our place, and we slept wet from the rain without a roof. My mother was a housewife, and my father was a janitor and had his part-time jobs. However, the ends could be barely met. Due to poverty, even medical needs, we were neglected. Two of my older brothers died due to meningitis and dengue fever. They were not given immediate medical attention since my parents could not afford to bring them in a private hospital. Years passed, I immensely wanted to become a successful nurse because I want to cure children like my brothers. However, it had become denser due to financial status. I still do my best in my studies though. I took care of my two younger siblings. We walked back and forth from home to school, do the household chores since my mother decided to work part-time as well. I just had my study time and do the assignments after with the use of a candle or under the electrical post with a small lamp with connected electrical wires from the neighborhood. I graduated with flying colors both elementary and high school. When it was time for me to college, my father did not support my ambition to go to college and that I should work as factory worker to help the family. I did not listen to him and lay everything to God above. Without hesitations, I applied in different universities for scholarships. Then, I was accepted by a private college and be a working scholar while taking up Bachelor of Arts Major in Language Teaching. But the time I went out to their study area because I will be assigned there, I saw students bringing with them their high-end laptops and gadgets wearing their suit and tie. It was like an awakening to me saying, “Hey, you can’t survive it here, you don’t even have an old model computer or even a mouse”. Right then and there, I backed off, gathered myself and cross the other side of the road where a public college is situated, the Cebu Normal University. I strived harder though I cannot become a nurse because I must consider our financial status as well. At the age of 18, I graduated with Latin Honors and there before I got the diploma and medal, I tried to apply a teaching position in a private school. Luckily, I was accepted with a promissory note that I would pass the Licensure Examination for Teachers. Eventually, I passed the examination and financed my younger siblings especially my brother in his college. The younger sister was still in elementary level. Then, when my contract ended, I applied in the Department of Education- Lapu- Lapu City Division in December 2014, the start of application, ranked first and hired on August 11, 2015. --- ##### My Passion, Hobbies, Interests, and the Life I’m jiving’ Right Now When I was young, I really love to read books, I even had a mini library despite the small space in our house. Most of the times, I just stayed at home and read. When I started my teaching career, I looked for a rent-to-own house and lot in a subdivision, I did travel in different places like Boracay Island, Bantayan Island, Bohol, and other places in Cebu. On the other hand, I did not live lavishly since I must save my income. I must sustain the schooling of my brother, help our family as well as pay the equity for the house and lot. After three years of payment, I applied in PAG-IBIG housing loan, got married and we have one son. I go to other places with my husband and son because I love to take pictures, taste different foods, and enjoy each other’s company.
*Choosing wisely the person whom you’ll marry is the best that you can do for your child/ren. The person who will keep you on track in times when you feel like losing yourself.*
In the part of my job, I got nice feedbacks from the parents and superiors because they saw how passionate I am and work hard in teaching. I coached in competitions in field of science, especially in Robotics. Recently, we won second place in the Robotics Line Tracing Competition. Truly, it was a remarkable experience to my participants. One of my hobbies is taking pictures of the nature, people, and everything I would like. During spare time, I plant in our front yard and again, take pictures of my plants. It was the feeling of fulfillment that I was able to grow plants and harvest some of them. I was able to harvest eggplants, okra, malunggay, and spinach fresh from the yard. Now, I could say that life was totally different from before, still, it is not easy because there are still challenges but yeah, I am still jiving ‘coz life is what we really make. It is up to us if we continue to strive or be stuck. Mostly, when you feel weak, God won’t leave us astray. Believe in Him, He does things unexpectedly. It might be out of our plans, but His plans are way better than ours.

---

Why do I join Hive? What can I contribute?

Well, the primary reason why I join Hive because I really wanted to share my experiences, be an inspiration to others and I am not good in verbally expressing my thoughts. I do host in school activities, but I wanted a platform wherein I can freely share my thoughts and emotions. I want also to meet other people, know their thoughts, and gather some ideas on how to be an effective writer. In return, I can also share my skills and hobbies to them through posting my experiences in other fields. That someday, I can also share this platform to others, and they’ll be thrilled to know it more. --- ##### How I get to know and Who introduced me to Hive?
Captured moment of our Hive Onboarding Webinar last August 5, 2023
As I was taking care of my son at home while having my school year vacation, I got a notification and added in a group chat by my colleague, Rose Ann. Since I was having a free time, I got the courage to listen to the meeting through google meet about Hive by @intoy.bugoy , @indayclara and @annetimistic . So, I wanted to discover it more and get interested to it. If I write articles and newsletters for school, why not write about myself, experiences, the places I have been and so much more? I am much more excited to learn more in Hive and inspire the readers from here and abroad. That's it from my IntroBlog. Thank you for welcoming me here, I'm @clita.clitz. See on my next blogs! God speed! 😊
