Decided to test myself with a little old school Mario earlier today while I tested out a new videogame recorder that I recently snatched off of Amazon (Elgato HD).

I was a little better at this game when I was a young kid, but I remember always hating 8-2 and 8-3 even back then when I had some skills. The only thing worse than those pesky Bullet Bills are those damn hammer turtle dudes! God. I hate those things with a vengeance, even though they remind me of ninja turtles!

### On a more positive note,

I figure I might as well practice up on my Mario skills and perhaps a few other side-scrollers and document my progress, or lack thereof, on the Steem blockchain. I'll call this series "Sloppy Mario" (or "Sloppy [enter name of game here]").

I plan on uploading a few other types of "play for fun" videogame captures, too. I might eventually start voice recording and I may even decide to start live streaming for games that are more up my alley, JRPGs (Final Fantasy series) and the like.

For now, all I plan to do is hone my skills a bit as it has been a while since I've played videogames, let alone played them well. I also have close to zero knowledge or experience with video recording or editing. Ditto for voice recording or interacting with a live audience in anyway other than as a sweaty, awkward teen trying to sound confident while reading notes off of note cards and failing horribly.

### Back to positive notes.

I had an interesting idea while I was recording this version of Sloppy Mario. How cool would it be if we worked together to create a Steemit/ Dtube/ Dlive community for speed-running that rewards the top times for that day's contest(s)?

Perhaps we could nominate one or two moderators who have a fair amount of SP, either vested or delegated to them from someone who does, and they would reward the top videos based on their own criteria. We could vote on what videogame should be the focus for the day or week (whichever we decide works best), set some rules for how to qualify for the rewards, what is rewarded, etc. and then go on our way, having fun playing some videogames while we compete with each other for the "cherry on top".

We would probably need some way to verify that it is our own play that we're uploading (example: say your Steemit alias somewhere within the video capture). I think it would also make it a bit more interesting and enjoyable if we were rewarded for things other than speed of finishing a level, or game. We could have rewards for "flair" (play style), creativity, presentation, etc.

Ideally, this would all be determined democratically within the community, itself, via vote.

What do ya think?

Would you go for something like that? I think it could be really cool.
