A lot of problems with modern society deal with our illusion of the individual compared to the society, the civilization... the great chain of being. In making death the enemy we've distorted the priorities of our civilization. Death is part of the natural order and not to be feared. The irony in that fearing death, we've created the projection and systems to inflict death on others.
