Introduction to Exoneratism 1

Inroduction to Exoneratism

In attempting to formalize my philosophy of Exoneratism, I sought to achieve a logically determined positive self-image. To do this I had to accept the freedom to make choices in one’s existence and the ability to make choices that bring inner peace and happiness in one’s existence.

I begin by comparing my philosophy to Existentialism.

I denied the fatalistic notion of the absurdity of existence as found in Existentialism. I also denied the sadistic conscience oriented anguish of Existentialism, which predicts the irrationality of choices made by humans. It was the very guilt ridden anguish of the Existentialists that led me to realize the emotion of guilt is paramount in the struggle for a positive self-image and serenity.

I accepted that my own logical determination utilizing facts was a statement of determination. My statement of determination in the court case was that by all counts and facts the condominium purchasers owned the well and lagoon. But the exercise in determination by the Court ignored fraud and deceit on the part of the developer and ruled in favor of ease and comfort for a governmental entity.

Even though I lost the court battle, I did refute any guilt on my part by using logic and facts to throw off the guilt I felt. I did avoid the self-conscious distress of the Existentialist, being much more interested in the freedom to make choices in my situation. Thus I achieved a logically determined positive self-image instead of the Existentialist’s emotionalized negative concept.

It may seem contradictory, but the less egocentric the individual the more he is able to direct his own purposefulness. I didn’t have to be a winner to realize I was not a loser. My philosophy of Exoneratism does not dwell on a fatalistic responsibility for existence as in Existentialism, but rather is concerned with the challenges of existence and the attempt to achieve whatever success will bring satisfaction.

Since there is no inward blame or guilt, Exoneratism is free of the sadistic conscience oriented anguish of Existentialism. It is a much happier and easier task to examine and interpret our place in our environment than it is to employ the imbalanced narcissistic tendencies of the Existentialist. Exoneratism can then rely on a search for acceptable, ethical explanations of the realities of our temporal existence.
