The [Manasquan Reservoir,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manasquan_Reservoir) like many others in New Jersey, is in desperate need of more rain right now.  All the land you see in the first two images should be well submerged.

I decided to forego worrying about getting muddy shoes and took a walk around a portion of the exposed shoreline to see what I could find:

- Loads of fresh-water clams (i.e [Corbicula fluminea](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corbicula_fluminea)),
- lots of broken glass,
- beer/soda cans,
- fishing line,
- fishing lures,
- bricks,
- pieces of rusty metal,
- parts of concrete blocks, and
- [sunfish nests](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrarchidae) which appear as a series of circular depressions in the reservoir floor.

This is a man-made reservoir (as evidenced by the many ghostly stumps from trees that were felled or submerged during its construction in the late 1980s early 1990s). Below are some images of the objects I encountered.

Note that I looked in a relatively small area, as it was starting to get dark.  It would take days, if not weeks, to explore all of the uncovered reservoir shoreline, as this reservoir holds upwards of  4 billion gallons of fresh water when full,  has a maximum depth of about 40 feet, and has over 5 miles of shoreline.

Swimming is prohibited, and you could be making a big mistake if you jumped off of a bass boat in bare feet, near the shore for a quick dip! You could end up getting skewered by one of those stumps, or landing on a piece of broken glass.
