The world is not getting better but rather worse each day. Crime rate is increasing and we see many atrocities commited each day. Sin is on the rise and people no longer care about what seems rightnor wrong. 

The love of many has become cold and there is no fear of God in man anymore. These have paved a way for many catastrophes to come upon mankind and our world. these and many more are a clear indication that we are in the last days. 

World leaders are trying so hard to maintain peace and order in nations but to no avail. They promise peace and work towards achieving peace but hardly achieve. They promise security but we still see cases of murder and hear of wars in many nations.

In the midst of all these is when the Lord will appear to all and will gather those who have prepared adequately for his coming. We are admonished by the scriptures to live each day preparing towards the coming of the Lord. We need to to be vigilant and not to be taken unaware for Jesus Christ will come like a thief in the night. 

Now you do not need to have anything written to you about times and dates, brothers,  for you yourselves know very well that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.  When people say, “There is peace and security,” destruction will strike them as suddenly as labor pains come to a pregnant woman, and they will not be able to escape.  However, brothers, you are not in the darkness, in order that the Day of the Lord might surprise you like a thief. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-2

We ought to be people who are not lovers of the world but only the things of God. People who can't embracr the world as if it is their final destination and the right place to spend eternity. We ought to be people who are constantly watching for the revealing of the Lord.
