After The Storm

I've got a pet rain cloud, it follows me wherever I go. *I call it Bob.* Could be worse I suppose, better than snow. Thought I could ditch it once, headed for the desert. *No dice. Think Santa Fe got a year's worth of rain the day I came to town.*

There's something about being out and about just after a storm has passed that makes it all worth it. Especially up in the mountains, everything seems cool and crisp, refreshed and regenerated by the rain.

All these photos are from my first visit to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. When I got there I had just enough time to pitch my tent before Bob caught up with me and pitched a fit. When the thunder and lightning died down about thirty minutes later I ventured out to see what I could see. Photos are all from that first jaunt.

Steam rising in the glistening quiet. Nary a thing stirs save for the wind and water. Silence.

Not quite sure what that *peace* thing is people like to talk about but the Rockies after a storm is one of the most peaceful moments I've ever experienced.

*Groundhogs making coffee*, that's how my granny always explained the steam rising from my native Appalachian Mountains in the early morning or after a rain. From what I saw in the Rockies there's an overabundance of hyper caffeinated rodents there as well.

*I'd better go check on Bob, so that's enough out of me for one day. May the Storm be with you!*
