# EOS Launch who will hit home & build the mainchain? ## EOS snapshot is drawing near, and the tension with everyone involved is rising high. So what will happen ? Especially since there seems a lot of confusion, of how the mainchain would be launched. In one of their recent [pre-launch videos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dr2VB2BWGWQ&t=7s) @EOSGO mentioned a chinese consortium that would launch a chain first, no matter what. That seemingly stirred a rally of other Blockproducers [declaring their unity for the launch](https://busy.org/@eosnewyork/to-the-eos-token-holder-community-one-mainnet), spearheaded by @EOSNewYork, which also includes a lot of chinese BP candidates. ### And still: my last count got a 91 participatants, which is not bad. But on the [ESGO-BP portal](https://bp.eosgo.io/) there are currrently 183 official BP candidates. So the unity statement is supported only by half of bp cadidates at all. https://i.imgur.com/zK3Ctxb.jpg There seem to be more rifts in the BP producer community, with some favoring the EOS BIOS launch mechanism, set up by @EOS-Canada and others who prefer a gradual manual launch. Wheres in the last [EOSRad.io BP panel](https://busy.org/@eosgo/eos-block-producer-panel-discussion-3-eos-go-live-episode-13-on-eosrad-io), we could witness an attempt to solve this, but i am not finally convinced, as controversies continue on other levels. Just take this as an example: https://busy.org/@eostribe/eos-bp-security-statement Looking at the many issues that have popped up around testnet launch and operation, eos.io bugs etc. i highly doubt any launch will be smooth and easy, and maybe even the majority-backed-net could crumble and disintegrate, and take more time to be operational or just be very unstable for a while. So i would be really surprised if other groups wouldn't use this opportunity to try launch their alternative chains, or we might have a resurge in controvery between bios and manual launch. And still, after a chain becomes active (15% of tokens staked) - just do some basic math - with 183 candidates, and the potential of maybe 75-100 of bps who will be able to operate as active or stand-by bps it is absolutely clear that there is a significant number of candidates who will not be participating after the first voting. And theres is also the EvolutionOS and some other eos.io copies that might have a job for spare bps. So quite exciting times ahead. ### What do you think will happen during this intense weekend? And how will you spend it? Fortunately here in Austria it's a public holidays and thus long weekend, so chance enough to follow the news...
